30 Day Pilot's License Extension
A Pilot License Extension (PLEX) is an item that adds 30 days of game time to your EVE Online account. It can be converted from any game time code or purchased with real money. Once a PLEX is redeemed, it appears as an in-game item that pilots can trade on the EVE market. Because redeemed PLEX are treated like any other in-game item, they can be lost, stolen, or even destroyed.
PLEX offers an alternative way for people to pay for their subscription without the use of more conventional payment methods. Pilots can purchase game time simply by playing EVE and purchasing PLEX with in-game resources from other pilots. The PLEX system improves on the previous method of secure time code trading. This system utilizes the EVE market to fight price fixing and increase transaction opportunities.
PLEX is for everyone. Players can use the system regardless of the type of account they have. When you activate a PLEX, the extra time is added to your account immediately. In this respect, PLEX works exactly like a prepaid game time code.
The PLEX system can also be used to pay for other account services.
Pilots can purchase PLEX directly from CCP using the Account Management page on the official EVE Online website.
Useful information on PLEX:
For security reasons there may be up to one hour delay in PLEX delivery after purchase. After an hour, if you are not sure if your PLEX has been created, please file a petition and a game master will look into the matter swiftly.
Convert ETC Into PLEX
Pilots can convert electronic time codes (ETC) into PLEX using from the Options Menu (ESC).
Using a 60 day code creates two 30 day PLEX. They appear in a pilot's personal hangar in the station where they converted the ETC. If you are not sure if your PLEX has been created successfully, please file a petition and a game master will look into the matter swiftly.
PLEX can be purchased within the EVE online market like any other item. 30-day Pilot License Extensions are available on the marketplace listed under the trade goods top-level category.
PLEX can be redeemed into a in-game item using the redemption system available from the character select screen or from the in-game options window (ESC). Redeeming a PLEX into an in-game item will not add additional game time to an account. Only applying a PLEX to an account will exchange the PLEX for 30 days of game time (see Applying PLEX).
A step-by-step guide with screenshots can be found here. If you are not sure if your PLEX has been added to your account, please file a petition and a game master will look into the matter swiftly.
PLEX can be applied to a pilot's account to add 30 days of additional game time. This process is separate and different from creating an in-game item (see redemption). Redeeming a PLEX into an in-game item will not add additional game time to an account. Only applying a PLEX to an account will exchange the PLEX for 30 days of game time.
In-game PLEX can be applied to an account through the right click menu.
The PLEX should disappear and a notification about 30 days of game time being added to the account will be shown. Pilots cannot apply PLEX located in a corporation hangar or a container.
Using the account management website, pilots can apply PLEX to reactivate a disabled account.
Pilots can move in-game PLEX back to their account's list of redeemable items. This way the PLEX can be used to pay for account services or reactivate an account at a later date.
A reverse-redeemed PLEX can only be redeemed to its previous station. Because of this, once a PLEX is redeemed it can only be moved through in-game means.
Also, reverse redemption can only be completed on an active account. Therefore, it is highly recommended that pilots who pay for game time with PLEX or ETC maintain at least one PLEX in their redemption list.
PLEX can be placed in private hangars, corporate hangars, added to contracts, placed into direct trade windows and listed on the market. PLEX can also be placed inside ships and containers, however if a PLEX is inside a ship when that ship is lost in combat then the PLEX may be looted or destroyed.
When dealing with in-game PLEX, it is wise to double-check the contents and prices of contracts. It is also wise to compare prices for PLEX in the market buy and sell orders before accepting the transactions.
As with any policy, this is subject to change if deemed necessary.
