Publius Valerius (Character)
PUBLIUS VALERIUS Fidus. Born as the third son of Naar Kharim Valerius, from the house of VALERIUS. The Valerius Family is descent from one of the Navy Officers who supported KHANID II during the schism from the Amarr Empire. Publius appearance is a little unamarrian, because for many Holders — as for amarrians in general — looking old is a sign of maturity and stature; for him is it something which he just counts as superficiality. Therefore he looks much younger than the most amarrian of his age.
The SchismEven before the historic date of 23041 AD the Valerius Family were land-owners that possessed some planets in the Kor-Azor Region. Inside the Amarr social hierarchy they belonged to the Holder caste. In the network of vassals to the Kor-Azor family they were relatively invisible in the lower part of the noble hierarchy. This changed with the sudden death of emperor (enter pre Heideran VII emperor). His untimely demise inevitably lead to a problem; one that many Holders in the Kor-Azor Region found themselves in. Kor-Azor Family — DORIAM KOR-AZOR — who already had plans for a radical land consolidation. This consolidation meant that some local Holders would lose big parts of their territory to other vassals. The Valerius Family was one of the unfortunates that saw their power and holdings greatly diminished. As KHANID II seceded from the Empire, an opportunity presented itself that was grasped with both hands. The Valerius Family and other disgruntled Holders were quick to support KHANID in his split from the Amarr Empire. This group is also called JARRAHHS. In YC 107, the JARRAHHS come back to the news, they were among those suspected of killing DORIAM II.
During the DAKOS Rebellion the Family showed it's loyal support to his Excellency, for which Commodore Gaius Kharim Valerius was rewarded with an arranged marriage to a younger sister of KHANID II. To this day the Valerius Family remains a branch of the Khanid Dynasty through marriage. The first child of this marriage, was a boy, his name was Areram. He gots as first born the second name Kharim; this ensured, that the succession was secured and free of conflicts. It was and it is still the house law, that the first born gots all the possessions and dynastic title of the family in order to prevent, a division and fragmentation of the Valerius Dynasty. As a symbol of this policy and everyone visible stands the second name Kharim. Areram first born was a son too, his name is Naar Kharim. It is the father of Publius.
Publius him self is just the third born, so he doesn't play a direct role in the succession. His education and social environment can be describe as a mix between amarr social structure and caldari values.
His work in the royal ministry of finance was relatively unspectacular, only the year YC 108 stood out . As the investigation began in August of that year, commissioned by the government about the health of the Kingdom's economy, had he changed the department in the Ministry. Inside the Department of Macroeconomics and monetary economics — a part of the ministry — could he work with some of the best amarrian and caldarian heads in this area. The title Fidus was personally awarded by the King KHANID II, as reward for faithful services within royal finances.
The CampusThe early years (YC 107) of the formal training took place on a central campus on the planet Apha. The goal of the first years were the scientific immersion in the field of economics. The theoretical part was over in the year YC 109 and ended with a thesis on "The Price elasticity of demand for Tech I- and Tech II-Products".
The StationThe final stage of the education took place in the HU School in Sehmy. During his training into the role of executive commander at the Hedion University the gift of capsule-compatibility, rare among the Valerie, was discovered. Despite his age, and against the odds, his licence was granted in YC 111. It was the beginning of a new life as capsuleer.
After he left the university he founded the Cooperative Bank of Amarr. It was a short adventure, which actually had only a reason: The avoidance of strict imperial laws for Samarkand Financial. The Kingdom could through a loophole gaining a foothold within the Empire. Then he took several advisory jobs for Viziam, after that he wents back to the Kingdom. He joined the Khanid Trade Syndicate.
