Template talk:NPC corporation

Copied by ISD Vash Erics from a corporation's talk page, let's talk here about what should be done for the corporations.

I cannot work out how to work with that template to make the images visible, and I would add the locations and information of all of the corporations agents, but that seems like a secondary issue to the main corporation information which, as i say, i am unable to fix.

Barring any objections i will continue from this point through the NPC corporations and do what i can to improve the evelopedia.

For the images, we need to see if the external images will get allowed or not, we're still waiting for that answer. The links should turn to images when the external images are allowed, otherwise, it will be needed to change the template for the divisions which I locked with the comment about why the images doens't work currently.

The information about all the agents could be added, it's an interesting option that I didn't work on at start. We currently don't think that a page per agent is a good idea, so agents could be part of the corporation pages.

About updating agents data, the main issue is my current system to upload pages I make for the database dump will overwrite the full page. So, if we want the agents to be added as a whole, would add another template to put all the agents inside, and also update the corporate division template so it will not link to (Agent) pages which we do not think as the best solution currently.

Setting the agents in another template will allow us to take back the corporate template with the full data from a previous revision and recopy it as it after the agents are sorted out.

I would say, definitely yes, all agent information should be on the corporation page, rather than on seperate pages. They'd remain easy to search for, and keep the wiki free from a multitude of tiny stubs. Overall agent info shouldn't be a priority, a general corporation overview adds a lot more to the evelopedia than vast amounts of minutiae which is of course available within eve.

Though now that i think about it, there's also the LP store which varies from corporation to corporation, probably following some rule i don't know about.

But yes, i'd consider information currently outside the template to be a low priority for inclusion, it's still early days. Daraasi 18:55, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

I'll look at what I can extract from the database dumps I have under hand, it wil take some time to sort it out.
For the LP store part, I will check if it's something we really want to show to everyone, and also, for any automated extract, I remember that data about agent offers I have in dumps is either obsolete (as being agents offers tables and not LP store tables) or incomplete.
So, I'll go for some database browsing and see what I can extract.

If anyone has ideas to improve the style of the NPC corporations template, you're welcome.
I'll also try to look at the corp division template to remove the agents links we no more want as being pages.

My suggestion in regards to the inclusion of agents on the pages is to not include specific agents, outside of the high end ones represented by the divisional leadership. Instead focus on where in the cluster the NPC corp has a presence region/constellation/system. If a good extraction from the data dump can be done and a nice table developed that sorts the agents in an agreeable way (rows as division, level and quality lowest to highest maybe), then I don't see why it can't be included. NPC Market Activity

Are there any plans to include an NPC Market Activity tab as in the old Item Database? This tab appeared on the page of every market item and showed where there was an NPC supply or demand (for example with T1 Blueprints, Cargo Containers, Moon Probes, trade goods and certain POS fuels).

When cross referencing with in-game information, this tab was very useful for (for example) finding where to buy a T1 Blueprint or source NPC supplied fuel items, or just to look for trades on the NPC market.

There have been many occasions since the old Item Database page was removed that I have needed to use this feature, and it was both interesting and a great time saver. Its absence has been questioned on the forums several times since the beta release.

I am working on a template for NPC corporations. I am going to first modify Lai Dai Corporation with it and slowly work out from there largely on Caldari Corps. My opinion is that it should consist of multiple templates. I am working on a General Information Box at the moment. A NPC Corp v2 page template for people to work from may be helpful, but I think making it a bunch of fill in the blanks is a bad thing.

Is there a way to create a template that searches all the corps for percentages owned? or will we have to do old fashion data mining for it?

With DPL it would not be a hard trick to pull. Then again, if we have direct access to database, rather whip up a daemon that extracts the info while creating the corp page. BlackSmith Sisunautti 00:36, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

NPC Market needs to be added

As previously stated...

Either add the buy/sell info to the corp templates OR add the NPC sellers to the Item database.

Corporate Divisions

I am looking at redesigning the corporate divisions in some way; but I don't think a template can be made since there are variations in the type and number of positions on them. I am considering trying to setup a Google docs (update: doesn't seem to have the capability :( ) template that could be edited to create a 'standardized' org chart for each corporation and then export it as an image to upload. Faction Errors
