Neocom panel

The Neocom Panel is located on the left side of interface, under your character portrait, and gives access to several tools, which are listed below. You can maximize or minimize the Neocom panel by selecting the two arrows next to your character picture in the upper left corner.

Contents

Character Sheet

The Character Sheet displays all the information about your character. Here you can see your character's skills, attributes, implants, jump clones and other useful information.

More information can be found on the Character Sheet page.

People & Places

This is your navigation box across the universe. Here you will find your bookmarks, see if your buddies are online, and search for locations.

More information can be found on the People and Places page.

EVE Mail

This is your EVE-mail client, which allows you to send/receive EVE-mail to/from other players. To send a new message, click the New Message button on top. Note that you will be charged a certain amount of ISK for each message you send to players that are not in your corporation. Every player can set a different amount, up to 1 million ISK. This is to prevent spamming and has proven successful for that purpose.

  • Directors of corporations can send a message to all corporation members by pressing Corp Members on the People and Places box and selecting Send Corpmsg at the bottom of that box.
  • When you receive a new message, the EVE-mail button will flash on the Neocom panel. Whenever you have completed training in a particular skill, you will receive an EVE-mail notification.
  • EVE-mails and convos sent to ISD Volunteers are not charged if you let the volunteer know. GMs do NOT accept convos or EVE-mails unless they specifically ask for them.

Science and Industry

Existing Factories and Research facilities have been upgraded with Next-Generation equipment, allowing for remote management of all jobs as well as opportunities for further specialization with new Starbase structures. Implementing these changes has resulted in the creation of Starbase Factories and Labs in addition to the preliminary infrastructure required in supporting science vessels.

In the Science & Industry panel, you can manufacture or research jobs and monitor their progress over time.

More information can be found on the Research and Manufacturing page.

Contracts

The Contracts System is a player-driven mechanism for characters and corporations to formalize work agreements with each other. This provides an intuitive method to engage in directed commerce transactions that are currently supported by the market. Auctions, Item Exchange, Loans, and Courier will be the first contract types introduced into EVE.

Unlike Market, items placed on Contract are visible in all regions; however, in order to bid or claim them, you must travel to the region in which they are located.

More information can be found on the Contracts Guide page.

The Star Map

The Star Map is a powerful tool if you know how to use it. You can access all sorts of information about the different areas of EVE, no matter how far you may be from them.

The Map can be accessed (and closed) either by clicking the map button in the NeoCom Panel (8th button from the top) or by pressing F10. You will then be presented with a 3D view of the whole galaxy. Every single dot on the map is a system in itself. If you prefer a 2D view, you can press Flatten Map on the World Map Control Panel.

This Control Panel is also where you can modify your view of the map and change your autopilot settings.

You can zoom in and out on the map by either using the scroll button on your mouse or by left+right clicking and moving it up or down. To change the angle at which you view the map, hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse pointer around.

More information can be found on the Star Map page.

Corporation

This shows information about the Corporation you belong to, its members, and other administrative tools. For more information about Corporations, please refer to the Corporation Management guide.

Assets

This shows you where all your Assets are located across the universe. Often, players have ships, items, and minerals in more than one location and this shows you where they are located. If your assets list becomes unmanageable, there is a search function which will let you find any item you own by entering its name or the first three letters.

This function is especially important to those who trade and need to pick up items for which they have placed orders.

To navigate to a station, right click on the station name and select Set Destination, then use the autopilot to get there.

Wallet

Your wallet shows how much ISK and shares you own, bills you have to pay, a journal of transactions, a list of all open buy/sell orders, and a list of your recent monetary transactions.

Bills

The bills window shows what you owe and what people owe you. This is mainly used for paying rent on laboratories, offices, and factories.

Shares

This tab shows all the share(s) that you own.

Journal

The journal shows every single ISK transaction associated with your character; you can filter the information you want to see.

Orders

This window lists both your sell and buy orders. You can cancel your orders from here by right clicking on the active orders and select Cancel Order.

Transactions

This tab shows only what you have bought and sold on the market.

Calculator

By clicking on this icon, you will open a Calculator that can be very handy when calculating profits in trade.

Help

This gives access to the EVE Help tools, including the Help Channel and directions on how to file a petition to the EVE support team.

Chat Channels

There are two ways to access the Chat Channels. You can create your own chat channel by pressing Create/Join or access other channels by pressing the Join button. If you can't find the channel you're looking for on the list, select Create/Join and type in the name of that channel.

There are some default Chat Channels already set up for you. Popular choices are the Trade Channels, Help Channel, and Language Channels.

Browser

The in-game Browser gives access to various types of in-game information, including Corporation home pages. You can also create your own pages, and there is a link on the default page that tells you which tags you can use in the in-game Browser.

Journal

The Journal window is divided into three parts:

Agent

In this section, you can find relevant status information about your relationships with Agents. There are three additional tabs, each focusing on a certain field of possible interaction with the Agent.

Missions Tab

Here you can see both the missions that are in progress and those you have been offered by agents, but haven't yet accepted.

Offers Tab

The Offers Tab contains a list of active offers from your Agents. You can open the Offers and check out the details. If you think an Offer is acceptable, you should fly over to your Agent, contact him or her, and accept the Offer.

Research Tab

Here you can see a list of R&D agents that are performing Research on your behalf. Other information includes the field of Research, the total amount of points that you have with an Agent, and the number of Research points you are gathering per day. These points are very valuable and can be exchanged into Datacores, items used in the invention process.

Expeditions

In this section of the Journal you can find necessary information about Expeditions which are acquired through exploration of complexes.

Learn more about Exploration in the Exploration Guide.

Contracts

In this section you can monitor changes in Contracts that are of importance to you. Whether you want to see Contracts that you have issued, those issued to you, or follow the auctions you are bidding on, this is the place to go.

Learn more about Contracts in the Contracts Guide.

Jukebox

The Jukebox allows direct access to all the soundtracks in EVE, as well as control over volume. You can even add your own MP3s to the playlist by using a third party utility. The Jukebox is relatively easy to operate. Once the Jukebox menu is open, you can choose Previous, which goes back to the last track played. You can also choose Play, which plays the current selected track. In addition, there is the option to Pause, where you can suspend the current track; click Play to continue the track. The Stop option stops play of the current track. Lastly, Next skips ahead to the next track on the list.

These are located on the top of the menu along with a slider bar that allows you to draft left and right with your mouse to control the volume of the music. Below all of your Jukebox functions is a list of all the available tracks to choose from. You can simply highlight the track you wish to play and click the Play button. There are several 3rd-party programs which allow you to insert your own MP3s. These programs are acceptable to use, but are neither sponsored nor prohibited by EVE.

Log

The Log window is where all game messages, notifications, combat actions, etc., are stored for further reference. Players can look up all their stored actions until they either Jump to another solar system or dock at a station. The Log window will reset its contents and save the old logs to a file on your hard disk (default: C:\My Documents\Eve\Cache\Gamelogs\). When saved, they are named by date and time to be easily recognizable.

Tutorial

EVE is not like most games in which you can skip the tutorial. The tutorial is essential for your success and will guide you through the basic processes of mining and refining ore, interacting with corporate agents, and acquiring your first safe and supervised taste of ship-to-ship combat. You will also learn how to utilize the interstellar market, purchase and install ship upgrades, and perhaps most importantly, earn enough money to upgrade your vessel.

Ships

Displays all of your ships which are located in the current station. Through this window, you can assemble new ships and switch between them when necessary.

Items

Displays all of your items located in the current station. Through this window, you can sort and work with all items you have in the station.

You can Merge the ships and items options to the station panel (right side) by pressing ESC, generic tab, then Merge Items and Ships into the station panel.
