Mamet is something of a hub system in what is called "Southern Domain". It's a heavily populated system, for a low sec area. It's close proximity to Providence and CVA makes this system a good place to set up for the fledgeling low sec aspiring corporation.
The system sports a Z&S station with four level 4 agents with quality 20; Two from Manufacturing Division and two From Administration, making Mamet a nice mission hub for those with the required standing.
Since Mamet is a hub, there's a lot of traffic going through the system at any given time. Most of it heads up the Kheram pipe, which is through the station-less systems of Valmu and Unefsih , but there is also a fair amount of traffic to and from Tash-Murkon via Biphi.
Most of the traffic heads south towards Providence, and to get there you pass thru Misaba.
Mamet also has star gates to Hoshoun, a nice and generally quiet system, and to Rephirib, a station-less, dead end system with good belts.
Just because southern Domain is safer than most low sec, it does not mean that one can lower one's guard. Just as Providence, southern Domain is something rather unique in EVE. An area where non-pirates can feel safer, and an area where pirates find more plentiful targets.
