Joining A Corporation

What is a Corporation?

Corporations are the building blocks of player communities in Eve Online. As soon as you start the game for the first time you will automatically enter one of the default NPC run corporations where you will find a multitude of other players from other brand new pilots, to age old veterans who have never left their starting corp or have returned for a short stint between player run corporations. From here you can join a player run corporation at any time.

Corporations are similar to guilds, or clans in other MMOs.

How To Find a Corporation

One of the best resources for finding a corporation that is recruiting new members is the Eve-Online.com forums. Inside the forums is a Corporation and Alliance recruitment forum where you can look at detailed information on Corporations that are actively recruiting.

Another method is to simply ask other players in the various chat channels in game. The members of your starting NPC corporation can often provide advice, or point you in a good direction based on your interests.

If this is your first attempt at finding a player corp don't be discouraged from talking to pepople and searching for a good corporation. Although many Corporations are elite orginizations that require you to have a certain number of skillpoints to even apply, there is always a large number of corps looking for new players to train, fill ranks, and join their corporations.

Physically Applying

If you want to join a specific corporation you must first find a station where they have an office. Search through the list of offices and once your corp is located you can then press the "join" button to start the application process. 

Remember, you can only be in one corporation at any given time.

Once you have pressed the button, the application form pops up and you are given a few options to choose from. This should be considered the first contact negotiation phase, where you inform your potential employer of which positions you are interested in. Be sure to send a message along with the application so the corporation can know what you are interested in doing. Remember, at this time, you are applying for a job, so you are in effect selling yourself to the corporation. Once you have submitted the application, it will wait in the corporation's application queue until one of their personnel managers reviews it.

When the application has been reviewed, you will receive an evemail stating that the corporation has either rejected your offer or that they have accepted it.

If the application has been accepted, you should now be part of the desired corporation and you can introduce yourself to your new colleagues.
