How are new players protected from pirates?

How are rookies protected from players with malicious intent?

New players have the option of staying in zones with high security levels, heavily patrolled by police ships ("CONCORD") and sentry guns. You can determine the security rating of the system you are currently in by checking the system information located in the upper left corner of your screen. Ratings of 0.5 and above can be considered relatively safe. Ratings lower than 0.5 should not be ventured into unless you are either willing to take the risk, or consider yourself to be experienced enough to hold your own.

Unprovoked aggression in systems with Security Rating of 0.5 or more is a CONCORD Sanctionable Action, and CONCORD will deploy Officers to destroy the aggressor's ship. CONCORD Officers' Spawn time varies from 2 to 20 seconds depending on the System's Security Rating (The higher it is, the less time it takes). Also, CONCORD will lower the aggressor's security status.

Please note that unprovoked aggression in systems with Security Rating between 0.1 and 0.4 (low security zones) will still be recorded by CONCORD, also resulting in a security status loss for the aggressor. There are no CONCORD ships in those systems to attack the aggressor---however, the sentry guns positioned at the gates and stations will still respond.

Please note: Once you leave dock, you can be shot at by anyone, though they will be subject to the consequences detailed above.

CONCORD hands out retribution, but cannot promise constant protection. High security space is safer, not safe.
