Escalating encounters

What are escalating encounters?

With exploration it is possible to find hidden locations. When you reach a certain stage or complete certain objectives within these locations, there is a chance that you might get forwarded to another dungeon or mission in a different location, which may offer even greater rewards. Once you receive an escalating path, it can be found in the Journal under Expeditions. Once you have traveled to the solar system in question, you can warp to the complex by right-clicking on the link in the Expedition entry.

Note that escalating path complexes can not be found by scanning.

But be careful, as these escalating encounters often lead you to less secure space and more challenging opponents.

Note that it is not guaranteed that you get an escalation after you finish all objectives for a specific escalating path. As was written above, you get a chance of being forwarded to the next stage after you clear an expedition site. The rewards will usually be greater the further into an escalating path you are, but note that there are no guarantees made that there will be riches waiting at the end of your journey, as some escalating paths will end in a dead end.
