Aggression Timer Countdown

How does the aggression timer countdown work?

If you commit an act of aggression and trigger the wrath of CONCORD then you better be prepared to lose your ship. Whether the aggression was intended or not, when CONCORD arrive on the scene they will exercise their well known tactic of shooting first... and eating space donuts later. Special note: Evading Concord's wrath is an exploit.

Example: You accidentally fire on a player and CONCORD takes out your ship. You dock in your pod, change ships and head out to collect your items in the cargo container. As soon as you undock, a CONCORD ship kills you again.

This happens because CONCORD still remembers you as the aggressor from the previous incident. If you undock or jump then you are always refreshing (or resetting) their memory. But if you stay docked in a station, without logging out, for 15 minutes, you will be able to return to space safely. Always try it in a noob ship or in a shuttle first though, just to be on the safe side. The aggression timer is 15 minutes by default, but it will reset every time you come into contact with Concord or other law enforcement units.

Please note: If another player attacks you and you return fire, you are also briefly flagged as an aggressor and will not be able to dock or jump for a minute after your last shot fired. This applies to warp scramblers, jammers, smartbombs, tracking disruptors, drones and of course regular turrets. Self defense will not result in Concord or Sentry gun retaliation.
REMEMBER: You must be online for the 15 minutes it takes for the aggression timer to count down. You can“t log out, wait out the timer, and then log in again.

Low Sec / Null Sec Aggression Timer

Although it does not appear in your Neocom display, attacking another pilot will result in an aggression timer count down despite not having any Concord intervention.

Jump Gate Access

The aggression timer also prevents a pilot from using the jump gates to jump into another system.

This is a common tactic for escaping gate camps, in which the would-be victim will wait for the attack to begin (commonly known as "aggression") against them, and then proceed to jump through to the previous or next system. As the attacking pilots have an aggression timer, they are unable to follow the victim in pursuit for a period of time. This often leads to standoffs at gates in which both sides sit in space, waiting for the other party to make the first move.
