The Abaddon is one most powerful and durable battleships in the game. With the hit points of a tier 3 battleship and an armor resistance bonus, it's capable of soaking up a lot of damage. Eight turret hardpoints and a damage bonus give it excellent damage dealing capabilities. However, capacitor use can be a problem, and it has a fairly limited number of mid slots. The Abaddon excels at short-range slugfests, but without range or cap use bonuses may not do so well in extended or long range fights.

Player versus Environment

The use of this ship for missioning is a contested issue; some argue that the Apocalypse is superior due to longer range and better capacitor stability. Others counter that the increased damage and tanking ability makes the Abaddon superior.

Low-skill Beam fit

This fit will be fairly easy for newer players to get into, requiring only a single Level V skill -- Gunnery -- plus most capacitor, turret, and armor support skills as well as Amarr Battleship levelled to IV, but it will still permit the soloing of many Level 4 missions . It utilizes Mega Beam Lasers for longer range than pulse lasers, but with lower power grid and capacitor requirements than Tachyon Lasers. The fit is technically not quite capacitor stable at Multifrequency L range with capacitor skills at Level IV, but is close enough for typical missioning.

High-skill Pulse fit

This fit requires more skill, most notably for the Mega Pulse Laser II, which are necessary for this fit to make much sense, since Scorch L is what allows this fit to do good damage at a decent(45km) range. It also requires perfect capacitor skills and either two capacitor implants, tech 2 rigs, or faction repairers in order to run its tank forever. However, when those requisites are met it does far more damage than the above setup across most ranges that are useful in missions.

Player versus Player

The Abaddon excels in the area, being able to dish out and take more damage than most of the competition.

This fitting focuses on killing things quickly, and surviving long enough to do it.
