==The Interstellar Services Department==

The Interstellar Services Department (<nowiki>ISD</nowiki>) is a group of volunteers who graciously share their free time in order to assist fellow players in the world of <nowiki>EVE</nowiki>. They answer questions, help resolve minor problems and act as good-will ambassadors throughout the community.

==<nowiki>ISD</nowiki> teams==

There are several branches in the program and each has its own area of interest. These are player <nowiki>support</nowiki>, new player <nowiki>support</nowiki>, bug hunters, interstellar correspondents, fiction writers and Evelopedia administrators.

===[[ISD_STAR|Support, Training and Resources (STAR)]]=== 
:is the branch for player <nowiki>support</nowiki> and new player<nowiki>support</nowiki>. 
:One of their duties is to personally greet new players, giving them a good start in the game as well as welcoming them to the <nowiki>Eve</nowiki> universe. They also maintain a presence in the help channels providing moderation, <nowiki>support</nowiki> and answering questions where required. 

===[[ISD_ECAID|Equipment Certification and Anomaly Investigations Division (ECAID)]]===
: is the group of bug hunters. They test equipment and features on our [[Test_server|test server]] [[Singularity|Singularity]], before these things are implemented on the live server, [[Tranquility|Tranquility]]. They are also processing the bugreports, which are sent by players.

===[[ISD_IC|Interstellar Correspondents (IC)]]===
: is a group of players who dedicate their time and energy to <nowiki>ISD</nowiki> to bring a wealth of news to the universe of <nowiki>EVE</nowiki>, surrounding anything and everything to do with player-driven events. From fleet battles through racing leagues to alliance tournaments, they aim to bring a broad spectrum of news coverage straight to your screen. Their reporters find stories, research them, interview relevant parties and produce the player news that can be found in the Player News Center, on the login screen and in-game. In more general <nowiki>terms</nowiki>, it is IC’s goal to become the source of player-driven news within the universe of <nowiki>EVE</nowiki> and a news organization that stands out from that which exists in any other MMORPG, past, present and future.

===[[ISD_Mercury|Mercury (M)]]===
: is a small team of volunteers that have specialized in fiction. Their job is to work with the [[CCP|CCP]] storyline department in the creation of fiction in many shapes or forms, be it news articles, descriptions, full fictional documents or whatever else is needed. 

===[[ISD_YARR|Yulai Archives & Records Repository (YARR)]]===
: is a group of volunteers who administrate the EVElopedia. It is their goal to <nowiki>support</nowiki> the community in making the EVElopedia an up to date, useful and easy to use resource. They do this by monitoring new content added to the EVElopedia, finding and reporting bugs to [[CCP|CCP]] and adding new official content.

===Former <nowiki>ISD</nowiki> teams===

==<nowiki>ISD</nowiki> In-Game Abilities==

Volunteers have little or no in-game abilities ''(on the [[Tranquility|Tranquility]] Server)''. They do not have access to the account information of players nor do they have the ability to create items in the game. They do not receive special items or equipment for their play characters. Their actions are closely monitored and they are not privy to information that is highly confidential.

There have been few allegations of abuse of power by the volunteers, but upon investigation, nearly all of these cases are proven to be false. To those outside <nowiki>ISD</nowiki>, the program is mysterious and the object of frequent misconceptions about what the volunteers can and cannot do. These misconceptions make the volunteers an easy target. We take accusations of abuse of power or other wrongdoing by the volunteers very seriously and investigate each thoroughly. On the rare occasion when a volunteer has broken the rules, he/she has been swiftly dismissed.

==Applying to become an <nowiki>ISD</nowiki> Volunteer==

Any <nowiki>EVE</nowiki> player over the age of 18, been playing for more than 3 months, and with an account in good [[Standing|standing]] may apply for a position. Applications are manually reviewed by the various team vice admirals/team captains. Candidates must successfully complete an interview and the training process before they are inducted into the team of their choice.

To apply to become an <nowiki>ISD</nowiki> volunteer log in to the <nowiki>EVE</nowiki> Player website and go to the [http://myeve.eve-online.com/isd.asp sign-up page]. Due to the volume of applications received, we regret that we are unable to respond to all applicants. If your application is approved, you will be contacted per e-mail with further information about interviewing and training.

==Chat Colors==

Colored chat texts are used by the representatives of <nowiki>EVE</nowiki>. Their color chat signifies what position they officially have within <nowiki>EVE</nowiki>.
* Teal = <nowiki>ISD</nowiki>(Polaris) member - Volunteer <nowiki>support</nowiki> staff.
* Green and Yellow = <nowiki>ISD</nowiki> (Polaris) Team Captains and Vice Admirals - Volunteer <nowiki>support</nowiki> staff.
* Purple = BH on [[Singularity|Singularity]]
* Red = Game Master / Senior Game Master 
* Blue = [[CCP|CCP]] employee.
