Rookie Tutorial

It is recommended that all players new to EVE go through the rookie tutorial at least once in order to get accustomed with the many basic features the game has to offer. The easiest way to do this is to simply opt to start in space on the character creation screen, the dropdown window where this option can be selected is located in the bottom right of the character generation screen, as pictured below:

Should you choose to start in space rather than inside a station, you will be thrust into the tutorial once your character has been created. A tutorial window will appear on your screen and lead you through all of the basic functions of the game. Occasionally, hint boxes will point you to an area of interest which the tutorial is directing you towards. Both the tutorial window and an example of the hint box are pictured below:

At certain points of the tutorial, you will be presented with item rewards, these rewards may be anything from modules for your ship to skills which you can train to make your character more versatile. Rewards will appear as an item inside the tutorial window and will automatically be placed in your cargo hold if you are located in space, or in your personal hangar if you are located in a station when the reward is given. Each reward will however only be given out to each character once. Below you can see an example of a reward being given during the tutorial:

If a player opted to start in a station or at some point warped out of the tutorial deadspace area he started in after character creation, he can still access the tutorial by simply pressing the help button on the left hand side of the screen, selecting the tutorial tab from the window that opens up, selecting “Your first days” and then clicking on the “Crash Course” tutorial. This is pictured below:

This will open up the tutorial, but in order to be able to visit the rookie deadspace area where the tutorial starts, you will need to be in space in one of the rookie starter systems. If you are not in space, you will be prompted to exit the station you are in. If you are in space, but not in one of the many rookie starter systems, then you will receive the following popup giving you a handy list of all of the starter systems. This is displayed below:

Once you have reached one of the systems with the Crash Course tutorial window open, you will be able to press the “warp to” button on the tutorial screen in order to warp your ship to the training deadspace area. The tutorial window will then guide you through the whole crash course, which should get you up to speed on the basics of EVE in no time.

Should you encounter any issues with the tutorial or any in-game problem, please do not hesitate to contact Customer Support. This can be done by pressing the F12 key on the keyboard or pressing the aforementioned “help” button on the left hand side of the screen. From the support tab, the “Create New Petition” button can be pressed to create a support ticket to the EVE Customer Support team.
