Votes

Some actions within a corporation require a vote in order to pass the motion. This includes such things as a war, locking/unlocking a blueprint, expelling a member, creating more shares, or CEO replacement. A 'General Vote' allows a freeform vote to be made, where the creator can enter the number of options, option-values. In all cases, the creator can give the vote a title and description.

Please note: Only CEOs and Directors can initiate a vote.

Any active votes will be displayed in the active votes section. The closed votes section stores a history of all votes the corporation has had since it was formed.

In order to take part in a vote, you require at least one share in the corporation. The higher the number of shares you have, the more influence your vote will carry.

Warning: Once you have selected your option in a vote, you cannot change it - choose carefully!

Simply click the option that best represents your view to cast your vote.

Once the vote's timer has expired, the results will be displayed in the closed votes section. If a vote has been successful, an entry will also be under the 'sanctionable actions' tab in order to put the motion into effect. Only Directors or the CEO can initiate sanctionable actions.

Please note: Votes in the 'general' category, as well as failed votes will not have an entry under the 'sanctionable actions' tab.

Troubleshooting

Q: Why can't I make a vote?

A: You need to be either a Director of the corporation or the CEO in order to start a vote of any kind.

Q: A corp member says there's a vote active, but I can't see anything to vote on.

A: You need to own shares in the corporation in order to vote on any issues raised. See the shares article for more information.

Q: I have shares, but it won't let me run for CEO.

A: In order to run for CEO, you need to have at least 5% of the total shares for the corporation. See the shares article for more information.

Q: I have more than 5% of the total shares for the corporation, but I still cannot create a vote to replace the CEO.

A: If a vote to replace the CEO was created recently, you must wait a while before creating a new one. Additionally, if there is currently a vote in process to replace the CEO, you will not be able to create another.

Q: I'm a Director/CEO. A vote was successful, but there's no entry on sanctionable actions to put in place.

A: It may not be possible to see or apply sanctionable actions until after the following downtime.
