Venture Racing Team (VRT) is the name of a leading team in the ISRC Racing League. VRT has won three Championships and VRT racers have won several individual cups, especially in the interceptors class.

Venture Racing was founded on principles of friendly competition and non-violent pursuit of the prize. We are committed to victory through superior organization and teamwork, believing that we are so much more together than we could possibly be apart. Venture Racing welcomes new members to the family, and strives to ensure that being a Venture pilot is the most rewarding experience in the league.

History

Venture Racing Team was founded in 109 by the late Kendar Zek as a venture of speed and integrity, inspired by fair-play aspirations in the wake of the shooting of a racer during Race 9 (the penultimate) of Season 3. The incident involved the Patriot Society and Dragonstar corporations.

Thanks mostly to an amazing PR effort by Zek but also in part to the trump card of having the former Interceptor vice-champion at the helm, the team managed to gather not only a disparate group of pilots from all walks of life to fly for it, but also an unprecedented number of sponsors backing them up. They redefined the concept of professional racing team in the League.

Season IV

Taking full advantage of the new rules allowing for custom teams, Zek and Kurosawa recruited much new blood for the League. The initial Venture team was comprised in its vast majority by fresh rookies. One notable exception would be Elsebeth Rhiannon, who had competed back in Season I and at the time had been the biggest threat to Owi, the future champion. She hadn’t been seen on the tracks since half-way through Season I until Venture secured her into their roster.

Throughout Season IV, Venture surprised every veteran on the track by displaying amazing feats of team coordination, despite the general inexperience of their racers. Soon enough all the pilots were displaying clan-like loyalty and acting as one entity on the track.

It was Venture who perfected the tactic now commonly known as the “warp train,” a subject of much controversy in the League, consisting of a technique to save a racer the time lost on the sub-warp approach to a waypoint container by having a team-mate already at the destination provide him with a warp-to-zero option.

Season V

In Season V, life turned difficult for Venture. They dwindled in numbers on the track and became just another medium-sized team out there. However, the idea that they were a giant of the League never left the heads of other pilots and Venture was still talked about as if they swarmed the tracks. That was when the Vorpal Bunnies came to existence.

Founded by Kanunu, a former Dragonstar pilot, the Vorpal Bunnies came to be early in the Season and proceeded to harass Venture every single race until the end of the Season, shooting anyone that they could catch handy. Harassed in such fashion, Venture’s operations got disrupted, they lost focus and their overall performance suffered. Nevertheless, in a showing of their spirit of perseverance and excellence, they survived through all the turmoil and still managed to hold on to the Interceptor championship.

Vorpal Bunnies weren’t the only reason behind the loss of focus on Venture, however. During the season, team founder Kendar Zek perished, an event which contributed to a loss of morale among the team. Takashi Kurosawa replaced Kendar Zek as team owner and the job of captain passed on to KillJoy Tseng.

Season VI

For Season VI, they recruited another old glory of racing to their number: Teo Kiesh (formerly Rhiannon’s team mate in Gradient, from the days of Season I,) making a strong bid in Assault Frigates.

With Takashi Kurosawa mostly absent from the tracks (although he did feature in the team roster), and with Kendar Zek out of the picture, recruitment for Venture Racing Team took a dive. Despite KillJoy Tseng’s efforts, the team floundered without its original leadership and former strong Interceptor squad. Scuderia Dragonstar and Dirtside dominated the field, relegating Venture to a string of team second-places at the end of the season.
