About Me

In-Game

I'm a jack-of-all trades capsule pilot, and have been playing since April of 2005. During that time I've spent a a few years in 0.0 alliances (NEC, IRON) participating in POS logistics, fleet battles, mining ops, small scale manufacturing, and research. In 2009 I started the corporation Alcothology with a friend for the purposes of exploring wormholes.

I've been involved in the EVE community off and on, taking part in roundtable discussions at two fanfests, forum discussions, and the like.

EVE isn't a game, it's a hobby. -Maruauder, CEO, NEC Alliance

EVE fascinates me in how it leverages natural player behaviour and real-world systems to create a game that operates on many of the same principles that human societies and nations run on. I am consistently amazed at the parallels that develop between the corporations and alliances in EVE and real-world companies and nation-states. Much of the enjoyment I get from EVE stems from the idea that we all contribute and make our mark on a virtual world much in the same way we could in our own lives, though on a greater scale. The absence of "classes" and "quests" in the sense that one finds in other MMOs makes this a much more fulfilling experience, and in my opinion, be-littles EVE in that it's referred to as a game.

Out of Game

I currently work as a security analyst in Northern Virginia. When I'm not playing EVE I can generally be found tinkering with my computers, playing other games, reading science fiction and current events, playing inline hockey, and cooking delicious yummy food with my goofball fiancee. =)

Current Efforts

I'm currently looking through ship entries and hoping to develop a standard template for ships in EVE. I'd like to eventually create a model similar to how dossiers for real world weapon systems are listed, with an emphasis for readability. More than just listing good fittings for ships; I want to see entries describing why a ship is used a certain way, and give a general overview on the tactics and strategies for employing different vessels.

I'm primarily a Caldari pilot, and therefore familiar mostly with the tactics and roles of those vessels. I'm working on expanding my working knowledge of other ships as time and experience permits.
