About IcemanNeo

Hacker by day, Sleeper by night.

I like to jump great distances in New Eden, looking for the potential rewards that are plentiful in Eve. Auto Pilot is not useful for what I do. Scanning is what I breath and eat every time I fly. All I see are probes and signatures.

I started Agent Contracting my first few months of capsuling. Much understanding came about during my time in BOSS Industries. When the wars were over, the corporation split from the alliance we were connected to, so did the corporation, and myself.

I headed in my own path. Showing and teaching others the best I can at what I know. Scanning, Hacking, and Gas Harvesting.

Hack New Eden!

It has occurred to me. Hacking is generally the most competitive and most rewarding aspect of exploration, scanning as I like to call it.

Speed, Understanding, and Focus are the keys to Hacking.

Speed. Speed is a necessity when it comes to Hacking. If you are too slow, someone will get there before you. When most scanning pilots find a Radar, immediately that triggers a must pick up the pace and get it 100% locked.

Understanding. Understanding allows you to know what is in the Radar and what some of the tricks to the site is. Main Frames, for example, you have a chance at 4 Info Shards. Warp in and out to the Nearest Location until more Info Shards spawn. Understand your sites, you will be rewarded.

Focus. Focusing on Hacking is important. If you are raring to Hack, just focus on finding Radars. Skip Unknowns, Ladar, Gravimetric, and Magnemetric sites. I've found more Radars in one day then I have in three when I focus on only find them.

Scanning

Ah yes, the reason I breath today. Scanning is one of the most fun, also the most confusing careers of Eve. Many pilots new and old have issues doing this.

Why? Low Skills, Lack of Understanding/Practice, Don't know the Key Bindings, and Lack of a Scanning Ship. All play a role in the frustration of scanning.

To simplify scanning you will need a few items:

Skills: Higher the skills the easier it will be to get the signature and the lock.

Understanding and Practice: Understanding how to scan is key to scanning faster and knowing how to get that lock. Practice will allow you to scan faster almost as a second nature.

Key Tricks:

Hold Down Shift and Left Click a Probes Arrow will move all probes when dragging the mouse.
Hold Down Alt, and Left Click a Probes Arrow will allow you to move all the outside probes into the center.
Go to the Probes in Space window, select the top probe on the list, hold shift and click the last probe in the list, this will select all probes.

Last Scanning Topic, Scanning Ships, Sister Probes, Scanning Rigs, Implants will all help you get that lock when you couldn't lock before.

Gas Harvesting

Gas is everywhere, Gas Harvesting is the Lost Career of Eve in my opinion. Rarely done, but very profitable if you know how to sell it.

Common ships to use(Best to Least): Hurricane, Myrmidon, Osprey, Proteus Ship at least has to have 5 Turret Slots.

Get the implant for Gas Harvesting Duration Decrease helps harvest faster. Gas Harvesting Skill to Level 5 is a must. Many of my Colleagues agree.

Fairly simple career, find a Ladar site in High, Low, Null, Wormhole Space. Kill NPCs or warp the Cloud, Lock and Harvest.

When you have the Gas, you can sell it on the market or create boosters with it. If you do sell it on the market, make sure you look at the price. Knowing how to play the market will get you greater profits.
