Akita T (2006-2011)

User, character and corporation history

An enthusiastic EVE-Online follower with a busy real-life schedule, the character "Akita T" was the first pilot to survive the controlling user's lifestyle (after a string of numerous other abandoned trial characters over the course of the year 2005 and early 2006) and finally became a permanent addition to the universe of New Eden. While the exact personal details of the user are private, it is known (self-admited in forum posts) that the controlling user is a male engineer from the NW of Romania, a Libra from 1977.

Created on the 17th of March 2006 (shortly after the four new bloodlines were introduced into the game), the Achura character remained in a NPC corporation for a couple of months while the user behind gathered hands-on knowledge and started becoming an active member of the EVE-Online forums. After a brief stint in a real-life friend's corporation (which closed shortly after), the character Akita T created "Caldari Navy Volunteer Task Force" (CNVTF) on the 30th of September 2006, which was initially composed of only a handfull of close real-life aquaintances. It was only involved in minor corporation wars not worth mentioning, and just for the 4 months and a half after the Empyrean Age expansion, part of the Caldari side of Factional Warfare.

The CNVTF corporation (Akita T being the only CEO of) remains even today relatively small, with mainly a Romanian-speaking userbase, not even remotely a major player in the politics of New Eden, just a casual player corporation with a PvE focus.

EVE-Online notoriety

While the user behind the character of Akita T is not by any means an accomplished leader of alliances nor a successful PVPer (quite the contrary, being what most would disparagingly call a "carebear"), there are a couple of things for which this character deserved a noteworthy mention in the annals of EVE-Online history : forum posting profficiency.

In August 2010, the character "Akita T" was ranked as the #2 user by post count on the EVE-Online forums, with over 24k individual posts totaling over 25 and a half million characters posted. In comparison, Joshua Calvert (the third most prolific poster) clocks in at almost 18k posts and belongs to an user that had retired from EVE for a longer period of time (although he might have returned recently, although not in force), and the most prolific poster (Dark Shikari, with nearly 29k posts), has retired from EVE quite a while ago. In late May 2011, the rank changed to #1, with a congratulatory forum thread (http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1515204) soon appearing.

While one could argue that some of it might be borderline spam and smalltalk chatter, there were several relevant subjects tackled by Akita T over the years, with emphasis on new character assistance, game mechanics explanations and in-game economy matters. For instance, it was Akita T that first posited and argued in favor of the idea that the price of T1 goods is not only bounded downwards by game mechanics, but also that the mineral market (in particular the relationship between highend and lowend mineral prices) is fundamentally affected by it, to name but one of the ideas that are generally regarded as self-explanatory nowadays in the Market Discussions subsection of the EVE-Online forums.
