Eifyr & Co. Assessment
- In addition to frequent communications on GalNet regarding the Amarr religion, Ms. Fehrnah has expressed sympathies towards Liberal holders.
- Although this may not be representative of her actual political or religious views, it is nevertheless submitted for public record.
-
"It does strike me as odd that the vocal Matari Freedom Fighters here are utterly refusing to acknowledge the one thing they claim to be fighting to attain. Unless I'm grossly misinformed the goal of the average Freedom Fighter is to obviously free slaves, but to also fight the Empire that never changes, the Amarrians who never admit they've done wrong.
Yet here we have an Amarrian man not only admitting a wrong, but he appears to be remorseful for the act and is even going so far as to offer restitution to the only surviving family of the slaves he'd had executed. I would have thought this would have been seen as a small cultural victory by the Matari. Instead a man's show of remorse and pledge of future compassion is being met with threats of unilateral violence.
I ask, why should the more liberal Holders show compassion to their slaves, even free them when the slave demonstrates an understanding and acceptance of faith, when that compassion is rewarded with spite and violence?"
-
"In truth I didn't say the Republic, any Tribe, Clan, individual Matari, or anyone not of the Empire, should stay out of Imperial affairs. I said those who demand change, notably the unilateral end of slavery in the Empire, shouldn't expect it the very moment the demand is made.
If that wasn't clear then you have my apologies. Quite contrary to the point you perceived in my words I actually welcome any reasonably polite discussion about such things as faith, any faith, slavery, law, morality, and really a great many of other topics.
I've tried to explain the true purpose of slavery to a handful of pilots, and to her credit at least one of the Matari pilots, Ava Starfire, was willing and able to be civil in the discussion despite not agreeing with it. The same cannot be said about certain other pilots who would not or could not refrain from becoming agitated and even outright hostile."
-
"As I don't own any slaves myself I can only share what I remember of my family's treatment of our slaves as I grew up. In all but the most extreme of cases my father felt that if a slave failed to obey, the failure wasn't the slave's, but his own. With that sort of perspective my family was perhaps very lenient by some standards. Positive reinforcement and education far outweighed punishment in most cases.
I will concede however that perhaps there are simply some slaves who simply need a firmer hand, and further down that line, that some may never accept salvation through service."
