Tyrathlion Family
The Tyrathlion family are an extremely old bloodline of Khanid Holders whose fortunes have waned in recent years. The genetics of the Tyrathlions are evidently highly capsuleer-compatible, as two of the current generation have become pod pilots.
Family Background and Pre-Capsuleer LifeThe currently living members of the Tyrathlion family are:
VaraVara Tyrathlion is an old, very traditional Khanid. Devout in both faith and loyalty to the Khanid Kingdom and, to a lesser extent, the Empire, she has overseen the slow crumble of the family. While no fool and more than capable, her old-fashioned outlook has led to other Holders overtaking the Tyrathlions in prominence. Recent blows to the family name by her two capsuleer children have led to her current reclusiveness, but she was never particularly outgoing. MortisMortis Tyrathlion was born with the name Judgement, on Khanid Prime, 79.04.25. As the eldest son, high expectations were placed upon him, which he met comfortably, excelling in all fields of learning and displaying the strong moral and religious attitude appropriate to one of his station. At the age of 19, he took up military service - not with the Khanid or Amarrian Navy, but with a branch of the Amarrian Intelligence services. Reports suggest that although disappointed at his choice of a covert organisation over a more prominent one, the Tyrathlion family were proud of this move. This particular branch was experimenting with psychologically-altering cybernetics, with the aim of creating ruthless agents, capable of anything - but with memory erasure subroutines, that would delete potentially traumatic memories upon release from service. Judgement's declassified record indicates that he served with distinction, but no further details are known, least of all by Judgement. During his visits home, the memory suppression implants were active, and thus he appeared as normal as ever. When he was given honourable discharge in 107.09.12, the memories were permanently erased, and the psychologically altering cybernetics removed. The results were incredibly destructive; either due to dependence on the implants, or brain damage caused during implantation or removal, Judgement's personality altered, becoming quieter, emotionless and cynical. Suffering from flashes of supposedly erased memories of cruelty and destruction, he changed his name to Mortis. Growing increasingly withdrawn from friends and family (including breaking off an engagement), Mortis eventually signed up for the capsuleer program with the Royal Amarr Institute. PurityPurity Tyrathlion, the second son and second-oldest child (born 82.12.19) spent much of his life in Judgement/Mortis' shadow, coming to prominence during Judgement's time with Amarrian Intelligence. While not particularly intelligent compared to his brother, he more than made up for it with stoicity and strong religious belief. Purity is a noted critic of the capsuleer system, despising the wanton destructiveness it represents, and has been vocal on the matter. Perhaps partly because of this, and partly due to the fact that his promotion was more based on bloodline than merit, he has been shuffled around unimportant border regions. CharityThe elder Tyrathlion daughter is supposedly a devout nun. Born 84.03.09, she is hated by all three of her siblings for what she is: a manipulative, deceitful machiavellian of the first order. It is suspected that she is to inherit the family title - given the recent decline in fortunes, it is possible that Vara believes her to be more likely than her unintelligent brother Purity to restore the Tyrathlions. RepentenceRepentence was the youngest child of the family (born 91.09.16) and from an early age, was marked out as the black sheep. Rebellious, hedonistic and impulsive, she is quoted as remarking that much of her young life was spent "Being sent to my room". A sharp contrast to her upstanding elder siblings, she was mostly ignored unless her nature generated trouble; which it often did. During their youth, her only ally within the family was Judgement, who was secretly amused by her wild nature. When he left, she continued to fall further from grace. Much of her time was spent in the underground slave culture of Khanid Prime, where she grew an appreciation for the Minmatar people and made several close friends. After Mortis dropped out of contact, she strayed further still from the wishes of her family. She had long since turned from nuisance to dirty secret and an embarassment to the highly traditional Tyrathlions, and on her 19th birthday, she became entangled in a raid on a Minmatar establishment where a local troublemaker was enjoying himself. The exact details of what occurred are not recorded, but they were so grievous that Repentence was disowned. Devastated, having lost her home and most of her friends, she decided to pursue Mortis in the hopes of finding a new home with him. She joined the Hedion academy a few days later.
Capsuleer HistoryMortisMortis maintained contact with the family after becoming a capsuleer for a time, working extensively alongside the Amarrian Navy and eventually taking part in campaigns against Sansha's Nation under the watchful eye of CVA, as part of the ASATOR corporation. A group of ASATOR capsuleers began conspiring to break from their legitimate ties, and commence a life of crime. Although initially reluctant, Mortis joined them. The group formed Twisted Inc, a small but powerful combat unit that eventually settled in the Atlar system, specialising in attacking capsuleer warships inside Deadspace. This illegal activity was the last straw for his family, who had been despairing of him for some time. He was disowned, and all contact severed. It is doubtful that Mortis either noticed or cared. With a brief stint in the Goodfellas alliance, which was abandoned shortly before the catastrophic defeats in Deklein, Mortis continued his time as a wanted criminal in CONCORD records. For a time, his record was scrubbed through operations against the Angel Cartel in Curse. He did legitimate work for the Amarrians, before returning to his criminal activities. Finally the ties in Twisted Inc dissolved. The corporation, always somewhat in flux, was abandoned as several members went into (temporary or otherwise) retirement. Seeking a new group to operate alongside, Mortis made contact with the Cartel loyalist corporation, Ghost Festival. He remains there to this day. Apparently his past attacks on the Cartel have either been forgiven or conveniently forgotten. When the Ghost Festival corporation recently gone into stasis, he followed most of his colleagues into the Guristas loyalist group, VETO. He remains as tight-lipped and mysterious as ever, however, and it is possible he maintains ties with the Cartel. Further details are sketchy at best. He still maintains a substantial spy network, some of it 'borrowed' from Amarrian Intelligence using contact details recalled from those days, while the rest has been built from scratch. He also apparently has a keen interest in Sansha technology. See under associates. RepentenceShortly after Mortis' arrival in Ghost Festival, Repentence graduated from Hedion, and set out on his trail. With a little luck, she was able to make contact with Ghost Festival operatives, and was offered a position in the legitimate corporation Preta Light Industries. She has worked there ever since, recently being promoted to the rank of Director after a series of resignations of PRELI senior staff. Her personal life has been somewhat colourful, and more public than Mortis'. She maintains a stable relationship with the Ghost Festival pilot Inara Subaka, going so far as to sign her clone contract over to the Achuran capsuleer as a sign of devotion. She had a phase of dressing infamously provocatively during her regular visits to both The Last Gate (the favoured relaxation spot of Veto) and the Skyhook (the Ghost Festival contact point), but recently has become somewhat more refined and rarely has the time to casually socialise in those establishments. She has suffered several attempts on her life, and is believed to be on her second softclone. Recently, she was the victim of a Sansha cybernetic virus that attacked her implants and forced her into a coma for some months. The virus has since worn off, and the young woman recovered, but the experience has fractured her sanity, leading to bipolar tendencies, occasionally borderline suicidal behaviour and variable memory. With the PRELI corporation gone into stasis along with PRETA, she has been working freelance as a combat pilot for Core Complexion. She has recently begun to display a yearning to return to the Empire and her long-lapsed faith. Known AssociatesBoth freely associate with all members of the Naraka alliance and much of Veto Corp. Mortis is known to have directly employed several capsuleers as part of his spy network in the past. Of those, one has left his employ to become a full Ghost Festival capsuleer and one is something of a mystery. Ashley Ryltan/The MasqueA Gallentean capsuleer of little consequence, who was at one point employed as a market analyst, Ashley Ryltan reappeared in Mortis' employ recently. Her physical appearance distinctly resembled certain Sansha technology, with silvery eyes and spikes rising from the back of her neck. Remarks by both Mortis and this new Ashley indicated that the original Ashley was dead, and that this was merely a shell for some form of artificial intelligence. The being referred to itself as 'the Masque', and was apparently his second-in-command for a time before vanishing. Rumours indicate that it committed suicide for unknown reasons, but Ashley has been spotted again in recent times, suggesting that the Masque may have recovered. Since Ashley was recently registered as having permanently died in mid 110, there may be official investigations occurring. Trivia
