Toivo jokihara
Early HistoryToivo was the second child of Reko and Chiyo Jokihara. He was born aboard a Charon class freighter, registered as 'KC-02451B' on 87.04.02. His family were in transit following a transfer to Nonni III - Moon 1 - Kaalakiota Corporation Factory where Toivo’s father was taking on a new position within his parent corporation as a production assistant. Unfortunately, there was a complication during birth. Toivo’s mother sadly died on 87.04.02, leaving his father alone to care for both Toivo and his older sister, Adel. Toivo’s father struggled to cope for a number of years. His attempts to balance work, family and grief gradually began to show evidence of failure. By the time Toivo had reached 6 years of age, his father had turned to alcohol and drugs to ease his pain. From this point Toivo and Adel spent more time together away from their father. Following his older sister's lead, they found support and shelter within the homes of neighbours and old family connections who didn’t wish to see the family separated for one reason or another. It was evident that their father had little capability to look after them. This continued until they were both old enough to be admitted into a full time state school, Adel had Toivo and herself enrolled eagerly. Toivo is known to have a close relationship with his Sister and he maintains regular contact with his carers of yesteryear, though it is far from certain that he contacts his father.
EducationToivo was educated by the Kaalakiota State School on his home station of Nonni 3-1. He showed interest in subjects such as History, Chemistry as well as Electronic and Computer Engineering. Early results were exemplary and he was slated to take a position with the Home Guard. At the age of 16 he was transferred to Nonni III - Home Guard Testing Facilities to begin his training. He proved to be a capable technician and was granted special training to join the Home Guard’s Combat Engineer unit, a small battalion in the Infantry division.
EmploymentPre-Capsule EmploymentHome GuardFollowing his graduation, Toivo passed into the full time employment of the Home Guard on 108.09.27 He spent the first two months of employment working as part of Home Guard patrol forces. It was a quiet two months and he saw no notable action. His first palnetside stationing was on Kassigainen IV where he was deployed in the aftermath of the Truissu station riots. His time here is believed to have been uncomfortable, given the accusations of heavy handedness that the Home Guard were dealing with at the time following the riots. He was involved in the quelling of three minor disturbances relating to the previous riots. After a month on Kassigainen IV, increased Home Guard pressence was deemed unnecesary and Toivo's unit were re-assigned back to the Patrol forces. He spent the next year and a half back with Home Guard patrol forces. He saw action in several raids upon Guristas assets, largely operating in the Black Rise region. He was also present during repair and recovery operations on the Haajinen XII - Moon 20 - Home Guard Logistic Support station, following sabotage attempts from a rival corporation. Notably, during his service Toivo earnt a promotion to the rank of second Lieutenant at the tender age of just 23. He continued to serve the Home Guard with distiction until mid YC 110. During the May of YC 110 his unit was re-deployed to Piak III in anticipation of landing, to assist in the quelling of riots at the Caldari Constructions Armour Forge. They did not however make it planetside before the situation was brought under control and Tibus Heth assumed control of Caldari Constructions.
Caldari Marine Expeditionary ForcesToivo was drafted into The Caldari Marine Expeditionary Forces early in June of 110, he was granted his previous rank of second Lieutenant and was placed in command of a platoon of combat engineers. Shortly after, on the infamous date of 110.06.10, Toivo led his unit in battle at Arcurio, on Caldari Prime. His unit coordinated the clearing of routes for armoured battalions at ground level and took part in a number of fierce firefights and close quarter battles in the city. In the aftermath of the vicious fighting, Toivo was part of the crowd of eager on-lookers cheering jubilantly when Tibus Heth famously raised the Caldari flag over the city. He spent the remainder of YC 110 and most of YC 111 working on the reclaimed homeworld, assisting in the construction of a number of new Caldari Military bases and rebuilding infrastructure on the planet.
State War AcademyWhilst working on Caldari Prime, Toivo was recommended for a position within the State War Academy, the reasons cited by his superiors were 'exemplary service' and 'remarkable technical competence'. His place was largely funded by the Caldari Navy, with a token contribution from the Home Guard. In 111.08.27 Toivo was enrolled. It is believed he picked up his callsign, "Toy Solider," during his time in the Academy school, a running joke among his closer friends. His time in the Academy otherwise passed without major event nor incident. Exactly two years later, to the day, on 110.08.27 Toivo Jokihara emerged as a licensed Capsuleer.
