Theo Samaritan (Character)
About Theo SamaritanTheo Samaritan is an alt character of a man who claims to have been around since the very start of EVE. While this is unknown and so far unproven, his apparent knowledge, as well as a documented history of the deletion of previous versions of this character lean the consensus towards his claim being a factual statement. Regardless of whether this claim is indeed truth, it is apparent that Theo Samaritan is well versed in the mechanics and back story of EVE. He is well loved and many consider him the unofficial CEO of the State War Academy - the NPC Corporation he has resided in since the character's birth.
Known AssetsWhile many of Theo Samaritan's assets remain unknown, he has been observed in and documented as having a few limited edition ships. Also, he has been seen as an early adopter of new technology as it arrives, with confirmed sightings of him inside a Tengu Strategic Cruiser within a day of them arriving on market. The character is documented on the ship collection list created by Entity as being one of the owners of the sixteen remaining Silver Magnate ships. The character also has been spotted, albeit briefly, inside one of the few remaining Guardian Vexor cruisers. Theo Samaritan also owns one of the few remaining highsec "Grandfathers" - capital ships built in highsec before this ability was removed by CCP - and has been spotted flying and mining with this ship in Isikano. The Naglfar class Dreadnaught that he owns is believed to be one of only three known ships of this type that still carry the "Grandfather" status, however as there is no official count, this is speculation.
The EnigmaTheo Samaritan as a character has become kind of a mystery for those who work with him. Belonging to the State War Academy since creation, when asked as to why he has not moved on to a player corporation, he often responds with a statement that indicates that the entire reason the character exists is to help the newer players of EVE. This has gained him untold respect from many players, regardless of what evidence is presented to them about his wealth or status within the game. One of the topics of dispute with Theo Samaritan is the true identity of his Main - if one exists - and the actual assets he has overall. His lack of transparency over the exact status of his supposed "empire" has, in the community he is most seen, fuelled the fires for some who wish to speculate on who this man really is.
What We "Know"We are aware that Theo Samaritan obviously has a large sum of isk or assets, due to his known asset history with the character. He claims this sum is anywhere between 500 billion and 1 trillion, depending on what has happened to him business wise, spread out over his alts. He claims that his Main has an age approaching seven years total, with a skill point quota well over 130 million. He also claims to have been producing capitals, the occasional Super Capital, and is the owner of three Tech 2 BPOs. One of these BPOs, that of a Hulk, and the inflated market for these ships before invention is what he attributes the majority of his early wealth gain towards.
SpeculationWhile nobody can say for sure how many of Theo Samaritan's claims are factual, many have speculated on who is main character actually is, and his alliance ties. During this, famous names such as Chribba, Entity, Sir Molle and even Cyvok have been attributed to the character, but no evidence has been presented to back these connections. Alliances such as BoB, .-A-., and CVA have also been attributed to the character over the years. The most likely candidate is CVA due to statements made in the past - Theo Samaritan claims to have known CVA for many years, and worked with them in the past.
In The CommunityTheo Samaritan has the reputation of being a kind man who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty if the job needs doing - with reports of him jumping clean across empire to help out people stuck with something or trapped in lowsec. He has also, in the past, run events designed to show the newer players of eve certain landmarks (such as the EVE Gate) or techniques. Despite being well known within the small community he works with, has managed to stay out of the public light rather successfully over the years. There have been times, however, where he has raised his voice over what he considers an injustice, or to put someone in their place. The two key examples of this include An Open Letter to EVE University, in which he makes a statement against his perceived corruption within the directorship of the entity, and the response to a successful scamming act against the corporation he was (and possibly still is) working with.
QuotesTheo Samaritan has, due to his dialect, created many memorable quotes in chat. A selection can be found here. The following were taken from Omgrawr Source (This was actually published on the back of EON issue 17) Top Contributors For This Page |
