History

Background to Alliance Formation

PBA Corporation [.PBA.] was the first corporation out of the three to be formed. Founded on the 7th December 2004 by PBA Lunax [.PBA.]. Growing in size within empire space, PBA Corporation joined Huzzah Federation after a empire war. They then set up their first 0.0 POS.

In August 2005, The Priory, and The Short Bus Squad declared war on Huzzah Federation. After many battles, PBA Lunax took a break from Eve Online, giving CEO position to Ian Cormack. On his return the war was still going on, and PBA Corporation had lost members. So plans were made to move to Immensea as a corporation.

One month after that, a PBA Corporation POS destroyed a shuttle belonging to shadowandlight of Hammer of Light [HROLT].

Red Alliance, then gave Southern Border Alliance the 3 Outposts in Immensea, due to Red Alliance being busy with the wars and being pushed out of the area. Pantheros of Southern Border Alliance made an offer to PBA Corporation, which was accepted, to join the alliance. ShadowandLight of Hammer of Light [HROLT] also accepted a similar offer.

Just over a week later, Red Alliance were pushed back. Chimaera Pact and Lotka Volterra launched an attack on the three Immensea Outposts taking them from Southern Border Alliance just as quickly as they had gained them.

PBA Corporation then left the collapsing Southern Border Alliance and carried on living in Immensea, running gate camps, generally hindering Chimaera Pact and Lotka Volterra logistics and travel through Immensea.

Back Home in Time for Tea and Medals [BHTM] was founded on the 25th October 2005, by Egai [BHTM]. After growing in empire and assisting Curatores Veritatis Alliance in Providence with anti-pirate efforts, BHTM and PBA became friends. A friendly frigate war between the corporations further improved relations.

ASSTI and BHTM Gang roaming empire for the scattered CORNI Members.

shadowandlight and PBA Lunax started serious plans to form an alliance. PBA Corporation of course suggested [BHTM] should join the nascent alliance.

Ascendant Strategies Inc. [ASSTI], was founded on the 09th April 2006, by Arilanus Doshenko [ASSTI]. Shortly after June 2006, while Agent Stone was heading to Amarr from Charra, he bumped into ShadowandLight in Sarum Prime. An offer to move to Immensea was given if [ASSTI] were interested in joining the, at the time unformed, Alliance Astral Wolves [WOLF].

ASSTI were told that we were prefered to grow in size. At this point Arilanus Doschenko went recruiting, and most of the ASSTI members and leadership are from this recruiting. ASSTI increased quickly in speed, offering training in Charra. ASSTI were also told that thay needed Capital Ships, so some started training towards such a goal. It took 8 months of training for the first members to be getting to the stage of being able to fly them.

Being a small corporation, full of young members, and never having deployed a tower before, leadership changes were made. On the 10th June 2006 an email essay regarding the planned move to E1F-LK was drafted with Summary, Background, Region Benefits, Recommendation of Aims, Implementation Plan, Jobs Available, and Review sections was sent to the ASSTI Leadership.

Cornhole Inc. [CORNI] choose this time to War Dec ASSTI. There intentions were to get ASSTI to pay 200M isk to end the war, thinking ASSTI were a small empire based mission running corporation. ASSTI choose to fight regardless, and the battles quickly turned in favor of ASSTI. A week into the war dec, BHTM had finished votes and wanted in on the fun, so War Dec'ed CORNI. After another week of fighting, Cornhole Inc. relised that ASSTI were not as easy pickings as they had realised and cancelled the War Dec. This belief of never paying ransoms, or rent by ASSTI, BHTM, and PBA was something that kept us close, and something that would only next come into use a year down the line, when G.U.A.R.D. tried extorting us for 8bil for one of our systems.

Later ASSTI finally deployed a Medium Control Tower in E1F-LK, however one evening later. Chimaera Pact Alliance moved a 30 man fleet to camp the gates, while 3 Dreads were jumped into the system next door to remove HROLT's POS, and later PBA's POS.

Shortly after that, ASSTI, BHTM and PBA later moved away from the direction Astral Wolves were taking, and decided to form The Volition Cult.

The Beginning

The Volition Cult was formed with a great idea behind it. The Cult was never meant to grow as immense as Band of Brothers nor become an over sized industrial empire like Ascendant Frontier. The alliance just wanted to provide a home for it's members where never kicked due to rule violations nor where corporations forced to join by means of military or economic extortion. That's why the meaning of "volition" is important to the alliance.

First system claimed in center of Chimaera Pact space to simply provoke a reaction.

To ensure the wealth of the alliance, ASSTI, PBA and BHTM agreed to raise the 350.000.000 ISK required to create the alliance. Once the money had been raised these three corporations formed The Volition Cult on the 22nd September 2006.

To ensure safe operations outside empire space the first Non-Agression Pacts were created with the United Legion and the Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate. Acting in the Immensea region saw The Volition Cult receiving applications from a number of small corporations. Kyromek Industries joined the alliance and was able to provide an industrial support for it.

The siege of the Chimaera Pact was not forgotten and revenge was bourne in mind for the future. The Volition Cult finally claimed a system in the middle of Immensea which was considered as Chimaera Pact space. The aim was to ruin their logistics, lower their morale and later claim sovereignity to see how they would react.

VOLT with Allies UNL invade CHIMP Space to try and take station. While LV assist Myriad take it from CHIMP.

The Volition Cult grew when Smokin' Hillbillys joined. They were a very experienced corp and were able to help the alliance with combat knowledge.

Finally the day of revenge seemed to come. Lotka Volterra decided to intervene in Immensea, which caused United Legion to ally with [VOLT].

In the end it all comes down to the fight for 2O-EEW where The Volition Cult and allies could bring up almost 100 pilots fighting against nearly 150 pilots from Chimaera Pact, Lotka Volterra, Myriad and Maelstrom. In the end The Volition Cult took heavy losses had to admit losing this battle.

Through Smokin' Hillbillys contacts, information leaked through that the Interstellar Alcohol Conglomerate planned an engagement of the whole Immensea region including The Volition Cult as well. Not able to take more losses, The Volition Cult took this as a chance to settle down in the new explored Drone Regions.

The Volition Cult never managed to get revenge on the battlefield. But at least the Chimaera Pact died through a circumstance, which was introduced by Agent Stone as the "Curse of Volt".

The New Regions

Settling down in the Drone Regions gave The Volition Cult a massive industrial boost. However, there were many disadvantages. For example, getting the alloys to empire required many members time, which caused a loss of motivation over the period [VOLT] were in the regions.

The Volition Cult claimed a few systems in the S-I6VU region, mainly operating from K-3PQW.

[VOLT] found allies there quickly and were friends of the MAD-Pact (although not official members). MAD-Pact was a coalition of alliances new to the Drone Regions, with the goal of helping each other defend Drone Regions.

It was not long being confronted with a new imminence. On the 09th March 2007 Warspite Developments anchored a small POS in K-3PQW while [VOLT] were relatively inactive. Warspite used it as a support structure to get Dreadnoughts into the system and anchored a large POS shortly after that.

The siege was planned well from their side, but The Volition Cult managed it to set up a fleet with around 50 pilots heading from empire to the Drone Regions in a really short amount of time. While the POS of PBA Corporation was under siege with 6 Dreadnoughts from Warspite Developments, FREGE Alliance assembled a fleet of nearly 100 pilots to assist us. In peak we had nearly 150 active pilots in K-3PQW. [VOLT] managed to destroy their POSes causing Warspite Developments to leave the region and joining the Rule of Three alliance, which were an ally of [VOLT].

Summary of GUARD Space bordering VOLT Space on Day 1 of Conflict between MAD Pact & Allies vs GUARD

The Volition Cult alliance had claimed AK-L0Z sovereignty with a tower as it was next door. The sovereignty was lost when the corporation who owned the tower left the alliance. A few months later, at the end of May 2007, PBA Corporation anchored a POS reclaiming this system again but GUARD, who had sovereignty of a system at the other end of the constellation, had issues with this. The G.U.A.R.D. alliance asked [VOLT] to remove this POS or pay 8.000.000.000 |ISK for this system. [VOLT] declined this offer, as it was extortion. Afterwards mails were sent to G.U.A.R.D. to open talks but there were no replies after a number of peaceful resolutions were offered.

At the same time, G.U.A.R.D. lost confidence of the MAD-Pact Members by starting a small conflict with Red Alliance which resulted in the loss of several G.U.A.R.D. capital ships. Also G.U.A.R.D. pilots were reported ratted in INVICTUS. Alliance space and failed to resolve the issue with Invictus. Alliance.

These and other issues resulted in a well planned siege with the aim to remove G.U.A.R.D from the Drone Regions altogether, as it was decided by MAD-Pact Members that they were a liability to the coalition. MAD-Pact moved to take the G.U.A.R.D coreoutpost system, and keep it locked down for over 5 days.

Summary of GUARD Space bordering VOLT Space on Day 3 of Conflict between MAD Pact & Allies vs GUARD

The Volition Cult during this time, destroyed 18 [G.U.A.R.D.] sovereignty claiming POSes in 18 different systems over a 3 day period while G.U.A.R.D. itself was held in one system by MAD-Pact affiliated alliances. This did however cost the alliance a Moros Dreadnought. G.U.A.R.D, with the support of The Pentigram, managed to get their fleet into the system [VOLT] were siegeing, and caught a Dread before [VOLT] could pull it out. The Pentigram had [VOLT] blue at the time so engaged [VOLT] without warning. After one week G.U.A.R.D. and The Pentigram surrendered and accepted terms made by the MAD-Pact. They left the Drone Regions. Shortly after that they both announced their disbandment.

After the G.U.A.R.D conflict, Proper Responce and Stella Polar started causing problems by engaging Alliances in the MAD-Pact. While The Volition Cult were not members they got involved when both Proper Responce and Stella Polar engaged some [VOLT] pilots without warning that they had set [VOLT] to red, while [VOLT] had them blue.

The first instance was when a Stella Polar pilot engaged one of [VOLT]'s pilots Beowulf Scot while ratting. and as we had them showing as blue, was unprepared for the ganking. The second incident was a few days later when Graham Johnstone was engaged by Proper Responce on a gate. Graham simply tanked the 3 hostiles for just over 10 minutes until downtime to escape, by jumping back through the gate, being warp jammed, etc. After over 10 minutes of being shot at by blues and not returning fire, downtime accured, and servers shut down, which allowed Graham to escape Proper Responces gank squad.

[VOLT] reset standings with both Proper Responce and Stella Polar after they broke the terms of NAP without warning.

After the Era of Drone Regions

Regrouping in Empire, Merging of PBA and BHTM, Various Campaigns. Alliance operations cease on the 27th December 2010.

Reforming the Alliance in Fountain

On the 16th August 2011, Volition Cult along with The Rising Stars, Max Hamburgers and Grensvegters joined and restarted the alliance. [VOLT] moved to NPC Fountain and became the dominant force in Serpentis Prime for three months fighting the fountain locals. Politically [VOLT] had no blue standings at this point and ran a NBSI policy in Null Sec and NRDS in Low Sec.

It was agreed that for the short term the alliance should not concern itself with sovereignty and instead focus on various fun PvP activities and enjoy the break from constant Call to Arm fleets that members had to endure previously.

Providence Sovereignty and Outposts

Towards the end of November 2011 a diplomatic deal had been struck with old contacts at Curatores Veritatis Alliance and [VOLT] moved to Providence to assist [CVA] and other Providence Holders with Operation Deliverance. Politically [VOLT] adopted its NRDS in Providence and Low Sec and NBSI everywhere else policy that was used in 2006 to 2009.

The Volition Cult alliances first outpost captured on the 23rd December 2011 and renamed to Stone's Wishing Well in Y-MPWL.

With White Noise. deployed in the north, The Volition Cult decided to attack Y-MPWL and on the 23rd December 2011 the system changed hands and made history within the alliance by controlling its first outpost and achieving one of its founding goals. The conquered Caldari Research Outpost was renamed to Stone's Wishing Well and managed by Volition Cult.

On the 29th December 2011, Curatores Veritatis Alliance transferred control of two outposts to Volition Cult. This included a Minmatar Service Outpost in SI-I89 managed by Volition Cult and a Amarr Factory Outpost in Shintaht managed by The Rising Stars.

Considering how [CVA] policies helped The Volition Cult and its founding corporations in 2005 to 2007 its fitting that [VOLT] had the opportunity to return the favor and help other young organisations.

Currently The Volition Cult continues operations in Providence.
