Origins

The Littlest Hobos was formed by senior ex-ISSN members including pretty much all of ISS fleet commanders, ISSN being the lone PvP arm of the mainly industrially and trade oriented Interstellar Starbase Syndicate alliance.

After losing most of the old ISS outposts and much of the space in the ISS/IAC war of late 2006 / early 2007. The members who would go on to form the corporations felt disillusioned with the current state of ISS. So ISSN leadership, fleet commander, and senior members began talking about forming our own Corp away from the NRDS ideals of the ISS.

So The Littlest Hobos was born.

The corpname was originally meant as a joke and to be temporary only, while the corp ticker of WEDIE is a parody of Burn Eden’s ticker UDIE. However both became quickly the trademark of the corp as did the roleplaying of internet spaceship tramps looking to go through other people’s bins looking for valuables.

The early days

Starting out to enjoy the newly found freedom as low sec pirates the corp quickly grew as old friends contacted us looking to join.

After a month or two of low sec ganking we branched out and started raiding the home systems of the old North.

The first Providence Campaign

Soon after this the corp turned its focus South to Providence basing out of Unity Station in 9UY4-H which belonged to Ushra'Khan at that time with which the corp had and has a strong affiliation ever since many of the members helped to defend the 9UY outpost from a Pirate Alliance seige back in 2006.

Shortly after we arrived, Curatores Veritatis Alliance attacked another UK outpost in QR-K85. In retaliation The Littlest Hobos conducted a free-of-charge contract on the Providence region, focusing on CVA’s minor allies causing over 10bil ISK in damage for neglegible losses in just over 10 days.

This contract, along with our trademark style of roleplaying, helped the corp making a name in Eve.

The founding of <BUM> and the defense of Unity Station

The Littlest Hobos remained in Providence after the fall of UK's QR outpost to CVA, and helped UK whilst focusing on the removal of CVA's pet alliances, it was around this time we formed Betrayal Under Mayhem Alliance with two other ex-ISS corps namely 5punkorp and Lyrus Associates.

The young alliance was thrown right into the deep end from day one when CVA attacked UK's Unity Station in 9UY. Fighting stretched over 3 weeks in an extended system seige and CVA quickly resorted to focus on taking out BUM pilots early as they often lead the UK fleets.

The largest capital losses sustained by CVA during this period (7 capital kills in one fight) was when Algey commanded the combined UK and allied fleet which acted alongside fleets of 0utbreak and Ev0ke in that battle. BUM pilots also took part in the destruction of the CVA capital yards in X-R3NM during a desperate but ultimately unsuccessfull attack on the CVA capital system.

During this operation BUM also suffered its first Capital loss ever when Jimmysav of 5punk, later a WEDIE member, fell asleep in his Revelation class Dreadnought during a POS siege thereby coining the phrase of “pulling a Jimmy”.

After a 3 system seige CVA managed to take over 9UY system by deploying a large amount of control towers

Further campaigns in Providence and Catch

In response BUM conducted the retaliatory “Providence Must Burn” campaign, targetted against alliances under the protection of CVA.

The campaign was a huge success for BUM with tens of billions of isk worth of damage caused to the local alliances. The most notable event of the campaign was when a combined force of two of the local alliances, outnumbering the defenders 10 to 1, attacked a WEDIE owned staging POS in EX-0LQ.

The first battle saw a hostile fleet numbering in the 60s with over 30 battleships attacking the installation but the defending 8-man sniper 'fleet' inflicted heavy damage on the attackers for only 2-3 support craft losses and repelled the assault.

Over the following weeks several more unsuccessful attempts were made to remove the POS in which resident alliances and corps lost hundreds of ships. Moreoever in an attempt to regain sovereignity multiple towers were placed by the United Corporations of Eve alliance (UCE) which all got destroyed by BUM forces.

The end of the campaign was marked by the two primary targets surrendering. UCE moved back to empire space and disbanded shortly after as a direct result of the constant pressure on them. The Slammers Republic alliance offered BUM a cash settlement to stop all hostile action against them along with a public announcement on Eve-online forums, the terms were accepted.

The BUM Alliance then moved to Curse. At first it was fighting alongside Eternal Rising against TCF, later followed by skirmishes with IAC in the Litom area. A decline in Alliance activities and the more and more apparent diverging visions of the member corporations let to the three founding corporations of BUM going separate ways although staying on good terms with each other.

The Insurgency

After the dissolving of BUM the corp joined the young Insurgency Alliance (INSRG) and moved to the far North of New Eden, over the time becoming the top performing corp in the up-and-coming alliance and one of the driving forces in the expansion of the Alliance sphere of influence, despite its small size. Possessing previous know-how about pos warfare from its ISS days the corp was put in charge of a number of Alliance towers including one of the rare Promethium moons, at the peak time it was running over 15 towers of various sizes in Branch and Venal regions.

With steady and determined fighting INSRG was able to beat several numerically superior local Alliances and conquer of a good part of the Branch region and establish a base there consisting of four Outposts and three constellations

But soon the onslaught of the NC and their allies set out to crush the INSRG expansion. Vicious but ultimately hopeless fighting ensued and not even the involvement of Triumvirate Alliance could turn the tide in Insurgency’s favor.

The highlights of the defensive battles included the destruction of a Razor Titan in D4R-H7 and the battle of Z-K495 where 800 NC pilots were beaten back by 200 INSRG pilots - not only the probably biggest fight of that time but also one of the loss-heaviest battles to date in terms of sub-capital ships. The Littlest Hobos were heavily involved in those events and even now over two years later the remnants of the corp’s defensive installations can be found in Z-K495 solar system bearing testimony the past glory of INSRG.

The end of the war not only saw the end of the INSRG territorial ambitions but also effectively the end of the alliance even though it lived on for a bit longer but never was able to find its original pace back.

Intermediate Phase and Faction Warfare

Tired from the heavy fighting the corp decided to visit its old low sec hunting grounds for some old fashioned piracy fun and a bit later joined the upcoming faction warfare on the side of the Minmatar Republic which proved to be a fun experience at first, but soon interest faded.

The corp then moved to Curse to fly alongside their old friends in Ushra'Khan.

Ushra’Khan

After a short while the corp decided to join the Ushra'Khan Alliance where it has since then tried its best to play an integral part in the development of the alliance.

During the 6th Alliance Tournament WEDIE pilots made up a good part of the Ushra'Khan team which reached the round of the last 16 after winning the first and second qualification round fights as well as the following fight in the round of the last 32.

Recently WEDIE started an from its perspective unprecedented recruitment drive to augment the corp’s as well as the alliance’s capabilites, almost tripling its member count so far. The transition from a small, tight knit group of long time friends to a bigger entity of fun loving pilots of various backgrounds and skill levels has proven successful so far.
