The Council of Stellar Management awareness study

In a previous issue of the newsletter, short surveys were introduced as a flexible quantitative communication tool between CCP and EVE Online players. If you remember, in that issue we committed to sharing with players interesting data that we find in the surveys.

These are the findings:

The awareness of the CSM is quite high among EVE players. 87% of all respondents have heard of it before:

The CSM awareness is higher among players with longer EVE experiences, but even among players with less than a month of EVE experience, the majority had heard of the CSM.

The majority of respondents learned about the CSM from the EVE Online website. The Login Screen is quite a popular information provider as well:

Much fewer respondents have voted in the recent CSM elections, compared to the awareness ratio:

At the same time, EVE player turnout at the elections was [8%], which means the CSM survey was widely attended by those who voted. Therefore results from this survey cannot be considered representative of all EVE population, but rather only of the survey respondents.

Some of the reasons for not casting a vote are:

“Other, please specify” comprised of “I did not know any of the candidates or their programs” and “I did not care enough” options.

Whether respondents have participated in the recent CSM elections or not has no seemingly relevant correlation with how long they have been playing EVE Online:

The majority of the respondents have no expectations regarding the CSM; expectations of 35% of the respondents are met to some extent:

The more satisfied respondents are with the CSM performance, the more likely they are to vote in the elections:

The respondents’ ages were distributed the following way:

Ratio of those that voted is higher among younger respondents:

The accounts’ ages are represented in the diagram below, average age of accounts taking the survey is 2 years, which corresponds to average age of accounts voting; 44% of respondents are veterans with 2 years or longer of EVE experience:
