Talk:Khanid IIKing Khanid II, also known before 23041 AD[1] as Garkeh Khanid,[2] is the current sovereign of the Khanid Kingdom and head of the Khanid Family. He was also a Royal Heir in the Amarr Empire at the time of the succession trials which eventually placed Emperor Heideran VII on the throne.
Early LifeGarkeh was a young man who had only recently become the head of his family.[3] When his father died in 23033 AD, Garkeh was made the new Khanid Heir, as expected. Garkeh was subsequently made the Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy; and later even commander-in-chief of the Amarr Navy.[4] One of his first acts was promoting his brother Dakos to Admiral of the 3rd Fleet, a fleet with much history among the Khanid Family;[5] not least was Emperor Damius III, commander of 3rd Fleet.[6]
Schism from the Amarr EmpireAfter the succession trials which placed Emperor Heideran VII on the throne. He refused to commit suicide following his defeat in the trials, and instead led the a rebellion against the Amarr Empire, splitting his domain from the Empire. Despite the rebellion, he is still sometimes called ’The Sixth Heir’. Many people say; Garkeh’s reasons for rebelling against the Empire were his fierce ambition and love of life. Garkeh famously declared "I will not be ordered by some whimpering fool to destroy myself when my work is unfinished. You will not take anything from me, not my kingdom, not my people and least of all my life."[7] At the time of the schism, Garkeh was the commander-in-chief of the Amarr Navy and took with him a large portion of the fleet, including a Titan.[4] The point that he had taken a large portion of the navy — and that Heideran VII insecure in his newly elevated position was — can be regarded as supporting points; but through the faith in his own cunning, could he survive greatest threat, the soon coming Dakos rebellion. Following his revolt against the Empire, he was given a chance to explain himself by the Theology Council. In response, Garkeh sent the Council an inverted Imperial Seal in Khanid Family colors. The Theology Council interpreted this as meaning man's law is more important than God's law, and thus a direct challenge to their own authority. Whatever Khanid's intent, he adopted the symbol as his Royal Seal.[8] CoronationWith the coronation he finally founded the Khanid Kingdom; he took the name Khanid II (posthumously naming his father Khanid I).[2] Soon after Khanid was crowned as king Dakos rebelled against him and the infant kingdom witnessed its first civil war. First took Dakos an oath of loyalty to King Khanid, but acted behind the scenes to find other dissenters. After a year, however, Dakos had managed to amass enough support to launch a counter-rebellion.[9] The struggle raged for a few months, in that time the Amarr Empire had joined the fray, naturally casting their support for Dakos. For some weeks the survival of the Khanid kingdom hung in the balance, but when Khanid managed through a agent — Luxian Khanid — to have his brother assassinated, the opposition fizzled to nothing. Khanid lost some of the isolated regions of the kingdom, but the core of it remained intact.[4]
Rule over the Khanid KingdomThe Khanid Kingdom in many ways resembles the Amarr Empire. The caste system is intact — the Holders still reign as the social elite. The governmental structure and administration are all but identical, the only difference being the lack of checks-and-balances that many entrenched institutions and local barons exercise within the empire. Khanid II is in name the undisputed leader of his realm, but in practice a number of magnates and holders share or dilute this power. Khanid II has proven to be a somewhat hands-off ruler on the issue slavery, allowing his Holders to rule in what manner they see fit. Additionally, there is no Theology Council or centralized religious authority in the Kingdom aside from the King, so the Kingdom Holders assume many of the duties undertaken by the priesthood in the Empire.[10] He personally can be counted as more lackadaisical and secular then an normal Amarr. This comes partly from that he had redefined the position between God and man in a new way; and that he and the Kingdom embraces technology, including cloning, much more willingly than the Empire.[4] His policy can be described as an attempt to modernize the Khanid economy and society, an attempt many claim to have been very successful — to the point that the Dark Amarr society is far more dynamic and robust than that of the Amarr Empire. Another point for his technological and economically liberal view can be seen in the assistance in negotiating of the CAESA deal[11]. But what is not surprising, since the beginning of the Kingdom, his trading and economic policy is traditionally open and with close ties to the State and the Empire.[12] Many visitors to the Kingdom feel like it is a surreal mix of the Amarr and Caldari empires.[13] Many people question his so call ’technological and economically liberal view’ and see it more as a move from Khanid to get even the Khanid Unionists on his site, because for the Unionist was it a move which brought the empire and kingdom economically closer together,[14] and for Khanid was it a move which guaranteed the economic independence for his Kingdom. Economic independence not in the meaning of autarky, as it mostly viewed in the empire, more in the way that the kingdom absolutely needs outside trade to survive.[4] So the question is still open; If his policy is a expression of modernization or realpolitik. Since YC 111 the Khanid Family had been granted a full seat on the Privy Council. Khanid II will officially hold the Privy Council seat but will be allowed to name a proxy when he is unable to attend.[15] One notable point is that the seat on the Privy Council did not bring with it Royal Heir status.[16]
Incidents under Khanid's ruleKhanid II allowed the Order of St. Tetrimon to exist in the Khanid Kingdom for his own political reasons.[17]
