Talk:7th FleetI believe you are missing a section devoted to their actions during the Eldar Invasion. As in some pages it is referenced that they were wiped out, but on their own page they have no mention of being in the conflict at all. Or any history past their commander being tried and the unit stood down following their actions against the defiants without official sanction. Nothing major, just a note. Sniped from the Amarr main page: /quote Military The military, as a whole, was even more rattled than the general population, because they knew the Minmatar should not have had the strength to do what they did. They're still trying to figure out where the hell all those Minmatar ships came from, and a drastic shakeup in the intelligence gathering arm of its operations seems imminent. With the near-annihilation of the 7th Fleet in the Bleaks and the general failure to hold any kind of defensive line, there's been significant internal turmoil. Jamyl Sarum not only saved a lot of Amarr lives, but she's also following up on the Sarum family's traditional pro-military stance and, as a corollary, effectively absolving the Navy of blame. Generally, the military is more pragmatic about her than the citizenry. They can see that her return is not entirely in keeping with tradition, but they'd rather have her on the throne than any of the alternatives, and they certainly agree with her professed goals. For the foreseeable future, they are likely to be fervently loyal to her. /end quote Destruction was a mistaken ad lib on my part, appologies, but being nearly wiped out is close enough im sure to warrant some explination as to how/why/where/with what/when/who was involved with this incident/battle/ambush/something?
Ah, that would explain it some then. Shame that there isnt any mention of any fleet action or fleet composision for the Amarrian side minus the Empress's escort any where during that conflict. You can see during her corronation that there obviously isnt a lack of manpower/ship hulls to plug gaps with. /rant And yet they were mowed down by what ammounts to a relativly small cap fleet with a medium escort on their home turf. I understand that sabatoge took its toll on their communications, but you can have courier shuttles set to relay priority messages in all friendly systems visa vis courrier pigeons of old, when your traditional lines break down. And with FTL comms being still a somewhat new concept timeline wise, youd think such legacy systems would still be in place in at least the Amarrian navy to counter the loss of convienence. And all of this is just pointing to my relative frustration that the Factions in EvE that arent player based, are stagnant and dont do anything V_V. Why build it if you dont want it to work? /endrant
The Ammatar area I can kinda see as they were a detached entity operating with its own resources and personeel largely seperate from the rest of the Amarr chain but the other two fleets should have been at least harrassed continously by strike groups every jump, not a single pitched battle that results in a retreat and a super weapon being our only trump card. And I suppose that this isnt really about the 7th fleet exclusive, but also about all of the other fleets/combat groups/flotila's/independant patrol's that are doing stuff but never mentioned. Heck I cant even find fleet mentions other then the 7th, admitidly my searchfu is realativly weak though. Heck, if I were the Amarr Navy and I truly couldnt come up with the manpower/ships to fight them immediatly, or within a resonable timeframe, id put out the call to Capsuleer's to take contracts en-mass to be a bullwark while I re-orginized and supported the delaying action with what ever combat power I could spare. That would have lead to a decisive fight long before Saurum Prime. I am aware that the Navy wasnt very supportive of Karsoth but they wouldnt have used the occasion as a political statement, not when their heads would have rolled for certain at the conclusion of it. After having written the above I stumbled upon the following further confusing the issue of their near-destruction and the Elder fleet's involment: It has emerged in the last half hour that the first incursions into Imperial space were directed at The Bleak Lands, but the victories scored there were so decisive that it has taken some time for solid information to filter up the chain of command. From what information is available it seems that a taskforce including ships belonging to the Republic, the Thukker Tribe and the rebel Defiants crossed the border in overwhelming force. The region is currently under the protection of the recently-disgraced 7th Fleet, who were in the process of assembling fleet assets to depart the region for their new posting when the first clashes occurred. It is believed that were attempting to make a stand in the Sahtogas system, but no further information has been made available on their situation or status.
