CCP would like to know how EVE Online players perceive EVE User Interface (UI) in general and across certain characteristics.
CCP would like to learn players opinions on which aspects of UI need improvement and in what priority order.
The survey was offered to all current and former EVE Online players in the February issue of EVE Online Newsletter.
When the survey closed a few days later 2,400 completed surveys were collected.
| Survey summary:
On average EVE UI is rated at 3.3 on a scale of 1 to 5, which is relatively low and indicates a need for improvements; while about a half of the EVE players gives UI above the average rating, a quarter rates it below the average. New players (played EVE for less than 6 months) are likelier to rate UI higher, while Veteran players (played EVE for more than 2 years) are likelier to rate it lower: while the mean for New players is at 3.5 and for Established players at 3.4, for Veteran players it is down at 3.1.

Only about a half of EVE players are satisfied with the current EVE Online UI. It appears to be rather unintuitive, it doesn't feel modern and it is not easy to find available tools in it.
EVE UI rates relatively low across other characteristics as well, but giving more attention to intuitiveness, so it is more self-telling what to do, refreshing the look and decreasing the clutter, so it is easier to find available tools and simply enjoy EVE more, should be given priority. The latter particularly, since excessive number of windows, required to perform a task, and cluttered windows were identified as the two biggest defects of the EVE Online UI.

Attending to these issues along with improving readability, through re-configuration of font size, should result in much higher satisfaction with EVE Online UI in the future from the part of the players and in generally more positive experience with the game.
