Sub-warp Racing Venture
The Sub-warp Racing Venture is an organization founded in 110 that designs and hosts sub-warp frigate races in a format invented by the founder of the organization, Julius Rigel. The SRV was originally a division of the House Rigel financial entity, but became a separate venture and underwent a name change during early 111. The SRV had become inactive in 113. After having dissappeared for the public eye in September 112, causing season 4 to come to a stop mid-season, Rigel returned in February 113 to organize some races. But Rigel again stopped hosting races and went on a "trip". A year later he returned, and is currently hosting a sub-warp race with a new format on August 4th.
HistorySeason 1Season 1 began on August 12th 110 in Uedama, The Citadel. What followed was a series of semi-successful races between August and January the next year in various systems around the four empires. This period was plagued by insufficient budgets, little participation, and crew members not showing up for their duties, making each race a challenge to host and control for the few crew members showing up every time. Between January and June 111 no races were organized. A race was set to take place on June 27th but got few, if any, entries, and was postponed indefinitely as Julius Rigel went on a hiatus to re-work the business model and come up with a stronger system for keeping the venture going. Season 2In late August 111 the venture came back with a refreshed image having officially been named the Sub-warp Racing Venture. Season 2 was announced to kick off on October 2nd. The new season had received a much larger budget thanks to generous sponsorships and the SRV was able to promote the races. When the season finally kicked off there was a surprising number of contestants and newly formed teams. Team 10-segrity won the team prize. The season is considered a success, and a third season was in the works, set to run from January to March 112. Season 3Season 3 ran from March 6th to June 26th 112, having been delayed slightly out of time concerns related to planning and advertising. Race tracks used during the season were exclusively located in the Juunigaishi solar system. Attendance peaked on April 10th when the SRV held its first annual flying convention, Impulse Con 112. Impulse Con 112 was an all-day flying convention held in Juunigaishi. Attractions included racing, seminars, and displays of acrobatic flight maneuvers. Over the course of the day nearly one hundred pilots attended the event, breaking the 50-person limit on the venture's main public communications channel. The team season prize was again claimed by team 10-Segrity, who ranked first in three out of five races, the last two races of the season having no team rankings due to lack of team representation. The prize of 300 million ISK was donated back to the venture for future use. Season 4Season 4 was scheduled to run from August 7th to October 9th 112. The venture's base of operations had been moved from Juunigaishi, where it held the previous season, to the neighboring Ikao solar system. The venture had also started to team up with evecast.tv to bring live video coverage and commentary. The season had come to a complete halt following the disappearance of Julius Rigel, with only 2 of the 5 races completed. This season will not be completed. Those who registered for it were offered a full refund on their registration fee if they contacted the organizer. RacingRaces(Note: this is the old format, the new format is changed in some ways.) Many SRV race tracks have been erected over the years spanning the entirity of the empires. Tracks have been set up in each of the four major sovereignties, Amarr, Caldari, Gallente and Minmatar as well as in the neutral space of the CONCORD assembly. All but the very latest race tracks have inevitably expired as the anchored containers composing them lose power and float away. TeamsTeams are organisations of three or more racers which compete together against other teams for a prize at the end of each season, although in the current season there is no team prize. Introduced in season 2, there were originally three teams, 10-Segrity, NX-Blitzliga '09 and Speedfreaks, of which only 10-Segrity remains active as of the current season. Later additions to the team roster are 1st P.M.C All Stars, Speedboats Inc., and Team Cannabis. During seasons where there's a team season prize to claim, teams are ranked by average pilot points in each race, the rank points are accumulated throughout the season and the lowest scoring team wins the prize. 10-Segrity won the season 2 prize qualifying for team scores in three out of five races. They won again in season 3 being the only team to qualify for team scores in any of the five races. Top Contributors For This Page |
