Early Years

Ryven Krennel, nee Haijikioten, is a Caldari of the Civire. He was born in YC 80 to a mercenary captain by the name of Kalus Haijikioten and his wife, ex-pirate Seela Kalevestra. Tragically, both were killed during an unsanctioned raid on a mining colony in Pure Blind. Ryven's parents were posthumously tried for war crimes and in a compassionate move by the Caldari State, Ryven became a ward of the Servant Sisters of Eve, who magnanimously cared for him in an orphanage. He was, unfortunately, his father's son, and was nearly always fighting with the other orphans in the orphanage. His parentage was kept a secret from him, though, and this only increased the child's rebellious tendencies. The Sisters were at the end of thier rope and ready to leave him to his fate on the streets of the nearest Caldari settlement when a compassionate Gallente man, staying at the Sisters station, saw promise in the child and offered to sponsor him. His name was Ballieu Krennelle. Ryven took to his new father figure, and anxiously awaited visits from this kind stranger. Sadly, Mr. Krennelle died when Ryven was only ten years old, and out of fondness and respect, Ryven took his benefactor's surname, albeit slightly altered to Krennel. Eventually, Ryven grew to be a teenager, and the Sisters deemed it time to tell him of his past. They sought his last surviving relative, Titus Haijikioten, a mercenary captain of some repute. Titus came and met the boy, told him of his parents, and offered him a position on the crew of his Raven class battleship, the Glorious Tavil-Toba. Ryven accepted and began his adulthood at age 16 on the gundeck of a Caldari battleship.

Mercenary Crewman

Ryven took to his new life with great acumen. He had naturally quick reflexes and the ability to perform well under stress, as is the hallmark of the Civire. He learned quickly and rose up in the ranks of his uncle's crew. He became the first officer when he turned 25. It was the same year when tragedy mixed with great fortune struck simultaneously in an event that both shook his foundation and elevated him beyond his lowly stock. Titus was hired to handle a band of dissidents holed up in a station in a pocket of deadspace in Ibura. Titus's flagship, the Rokh class battleship, Rouvenor, was accompanied by 3 Moa class cruisers. The dissidents had, unbeknownst to the Haijikiotens, allied with local Guristas elements, and the small fleet of mercs flew into an ambush. The Caldari mercs fought well, but the battle had a heavy toll. Halfway through the battle, a Scourge Missile struck the Rouvenor, and Titus was killed when an overhead plating fell on him. Ryven took command of the fleet, or rather, the two ships remaining, and managed to destroy the last remaining Guristas and dissidents. With the enemy fleet a mass of glowing debris, Ryven led a crew to take the station. They met with minimal resistance, and Ryven, the adrenaline beginning to fade, the high of battle wearing off, discovered what would change the course of his life.

Capsuleer

In the station, Ryven discovered a large stash of stolen goods, which, once sold, allowed him to finally afford the necessary biological modifications to become a capsuleer. The Caldari State imposed a condition. Ryven was to attend the State War Academy, where he would recieve the necessary training to fight as a member of the State's military. Ryven's mercenary roots, along with his own inner struggles, made being a student quite difficult, but he was able to graduate, if not at the top of his class, at least respectably enough to make an impression on some of his contemporaries. He decided not to make a career in the Caldari Navy, but rather to follow in his family's line of work as a gun for hire.

Current

Ryven began his free agency in YC 108, and has flitted from one corporation to another ever since. He has been involved in conflicts and warfare, and even piracy throughout the universe of New Eden. He generally feels that his purpose in life is to frequent wherever there is combat or money to be made. Sadly, as mercenaries go, he's better at the combat than the making money part, largely because he does many projects pro bono. He is a conflicted character, prone to both extreme violence, and yet, sometimes, strange fits of mercy and benevolence. He is a study in contradictions.
