Rupert Catfud (Character)
Rupert Catfud (born March 6, 81 EST), of Achuran Monk descent, is a capsuleer with Suddenly Ninjas.
Early YearsRupert began life on a backwater planet in The Forge. His parents were not part of a monastic order, nor were they particularly religious. Their ancestors parted from the monastery prior to the Yoiul Conference. His mother fought for the Caldari Navy during the wars against the Gallente Federation, and his father controlled a small industrial shipping line which was rumored to have supplied arms to both sides of the conflict. Rupert had no siblings. His early life was very stable, remaining in his birthplace until adulthood; this was an unusual situation for most families during the war. In his late teens, Rupert joined his father's shipping company, where he learned first-hand the value of stealth. Even though no official reports exist linking his father directly to arms smuggling, extensive CONCORD records show unexplained, and frequently illegal, behavior in the Border Zone. Due to his involvement with the company, Rupert had a short CONCORD record prior to joining the Academy.
Academy TrainingIn the Academy, Rupert proved himself to be a capable pilot. He trained in small to medium ship navigation, shielding, and missile systems, which was common for many Achuran capsuleers. The skills he learned in his father's company were also useful, but the navigational limitations of many Caldari vessels made escape or stealthy travel complicated without the use of cloaking systems. Rupert graduated from the Academy on May 16, 110 EST.
Corporate ServiceState War AcademyRupert briefly worked directly for the Academy, taking assignments from several Caldari Navy representatives. Although he continued taking these assignments for several months, he soon found employment with another organization. Unnatural GrowthCryo Kool recruited Rupert into Unnatural Growth on May 29th, roughly two weeks after Rupert graduated from the Academy. Initially, his service to the Caldari State changed little. After several months of assignments, Rupert grew tired of what the Navy had to offer, instead turning to independent operations. What began as careful excursions into low security space soon became more aggressive. Rupert also undertook operations against industrial targets in high security space. His thoughts on this: Lost TimeAfter almost 8 months of employment, Rupert left Unnatural Growth to see what else the EVE star cluster had to offer. During this time, he joined the Caldari State militia, toying with operations in low security space. He even ran with Jericho Fraction for a few weeks, but was in stasis for most of that time due to unknown circumstances. Although his corporation status during this period appears scattered, during an interview he claimed that the lessons learned were invaluable. Present DayRupert recently emerged from deep space after several months of silence. His mother was convinced that he was dead, a practically impossible thing for a pod pilot to be. He claims to have spent this time at a lesser-known pleasure hub in deep space, but will not reveal the exact location. He has recently returned to his roots and taken up his father's work of cleaning up the space lanes. He soon found a good home with Suddenly Ninjas, a hardy group of like-minded miscreants.
