Reimei Kaminamida (Character)
BackgroundSince his fade into obscurity, little has been seen or heard of Reimei Kaminamida. Some attribute this to his near-death experience after failing his aptitude tests in the capsuleer academy, which resulted in a reclone, and some measure of psychological trauma. After this his reclone, he retook and passed the tests, gaining admittance into the academy. He exhibited markedly different personality characteristics after this point, though. These changes included decreased sociability, higher focus on tactical issues, and an increased intellectual aptitude and retention, as well as an estrangement from his parents, Eido and Ryoko. After graduating, his involvement in The Servitor Incident marked what might be considered the end of his career. He was relegated to simple mercenary work for the Caldari Navy. Though he performed admirably, the destruction of Amarr Empire property, and illegal liberation of slaves of the Mikoto Syndicate, a Khanid mining and manufacturing corporation, were too large a black mark on his career to overcome. Recent ActivityFor several years after The Servitor Incident, Reimei Kaminamida was a relative nonentity in Caldari space. However, in 111 YC, he responded to a distress call from one Amaterasu Mikoto, one of the slaves that he illegally freed during The Servitor Incident. After a brief disappearance following this response, Reimei emerged in Gallente low security space, eventually making his way with Amaterasu to The Last Gate. There, the pair were seen to be involved in or party to the murder of Izanami Mikoto II, heir of the Mikoto family and its holdings. Following this, Reimei Kaminamida is believed to have been involved in the disappearance of Kunitoko Mikoto, current head of the family, as well as the destruction of the Mikoto Syndicate's fleet, though its presence in Gallente low security space, far from its mining overwatch operations, remains unclear. Reimei is believed to have taken up residence in the Veto Corporation bar The Last Gate with Amaterasu Mikoto. He has also been seen to associate with members of the pirate corporation Ghost Festival, though he himself remains in good standing with CONCORD. PersonalityReimei is an extremely calm and level-headed man. His unflappable calm and "seen it all" attitude tend to be a comfort to his friends, as he never loses his cool under pressure. He is, however, occasionally given to fits of temper, particularly in social situations, where he is most significantly uncomfortable. He exhibits signs of minor social anxiety disorder, or possibly simply reclusive behavior born of extended periods of time away from others. He is fiercely loyal to his friends, though he has a near-suicidal tendency for self-sacrifice. His preference seems to be to help those around him in the most self-destructive manner possible. Reimei is also remarkably strong-willed, having resisted Sansha True Slave implants for a period of several days before succumbing utterly to their conditioning, though the implants have since been removed through recloning. Some have commented that he is simply too stubborn to die, as he has also survived a number of ludicrously against-all-odds situations. Reimei's extraordinary mental discipline would appear to be the product of years of meditation and self-examination. AppearanceReimei is, as with most Civire, quite tall and large. He is extremely athletic and muscular to add to his nearly two meters of height. While not overwhelmingly bulky, he appears to have carefully sculpted his body with rigorous physical training. He has short, cropped black hair that, of late, he has worn haphazardly spiked. His eyes, though typically gray, have been seen of late to change between a number of colors, presumably due to some advanced or malfunctioning ocular implant. Generally considered handsome, Reimei appears in clones whose ages tend to vary from mid twenties to thirty. His current clone age is on the lower end of this, possibly due to his association with people who appear much younger. Ryan EvansReimei Kaminamida's supposed psychological trauma as a child is, in fact, the result of a clone hijacking of the dying Reimei Kaminamida (Aged 10 years old at that time) by Ryan Evans, who was fleeing his position as a black operations agent. Ryan Evans was a highly trained and effective black operations agent, who thought that a viable capsuleer body would be the best place to hide. After arranging for the boy's death, he substituted his imprint for Reimei's and, from that day forward, lived as him. Ryan Evans was born in 14 YC, and was, like Reimei, a Civire. Little else is known about him apart from the fact that he led a black operations squadron involving at that time experimental cloning techniques. Other known members of that team who live today are Tyrias Devereaux and Lilly Terranova. All records of their lives during their stint as black ops agents have been purged. The fact that Reimei Kaminamida is, and has been, dead for twenty years, and replaced by Ryan Evans is known to only a small handful of people. Always a SlaveReimei Kaminamida is one of two main characters in the EVE Fiction Always a Slave, written by the player of the same name. He is romantically involved with the protagonist, Amaterasu Mikoto, and acts as something of a protector and guide for her as she adjusts to the world at large. As of Part Ten of Always a Slave, Reimei was implanted with a number of nanomachines that increased his combat abilities. Recently, his clone was destroyed, and so it is assumed that such upgrades were lost with that clone. In Part Eleven, he was implanted with Sansha implants to restart impulses firing in his brain after a short period of brain death. These implants were thought to be reprogrammed, but eventually it became clear that they were functioning True Slave implants. Through sheer force of will, he was able to communicate to Inara Subaka the necessity that his clone be destroyed, so that he could be recloned without the implants. Reimei's ultimate fate is likely to be revealed in Part Twelve of Always a Slave. Top Contributors For This Page |
