Pod Death

It is very likely in some point of your eve career that your pod will be destroyed. The consequences of being podded can be severe, even to the point of losing skill points. This guide exists to educate and caution pilots about Pod Death.

When You Are Pod killed

When pod killing takes place, your body is destroyed and a new, clone body is activated at a station specified by the pilot. The default location of a pilot's clone is the starter school. You must purchase a new clone contract every time you are pod-killed if you do not wish to lose skill points.

If you are pod killed while possessing more skill points than your clone is rated for, your highest ranked, highest level skill will lose training points. The amount lost depends on the difference between the maximum skill points of the clone and the number of skill points possessed by the pilot. The maximum amount of skill points that can be lost is 2,048,000.

All implants installed in a clone are destroyed when your pod is destroyed.

Clones

All pilots have clone bodies that prevent them from ever truly dying. However, care must be taken to keep your clones up to date, lest you be pod killed and lose skill points. Your skill points and clone level should be checked periodically to make sure your clone has a maximum skill point amount greater than your current skill level. This can be done from the character sheet.

Your clone can be upgraded at any accessible station with Medical services. It is recommended you install your clones at a medical station, as your default clone contract is only rated for 900,000 skill points. The clone location does not have to be specified each time you are pod killed.

Pod Killing

The penalties for pod killing are suitably harsh for the effect it can have on the victim pilot. The security penalties are very steep in high security and low security space. However, there is no security penalty for destroying pods belonging to War Targets, nor to players in 0.0 and Wormhole Space.
