Back Story

Life Before Space

Ever since Opiboble was a kid, walking around in the stations his parents went too, he listening to the Pilots talking of their latest encounters in space he wanted to go out there with them. At the age of 18 he signed up for the classes to become a "POD" Pilot, at that time he had no clue what to expect, like most others who were in his class. After the three long months of training learning Zero-G physics and basic ship functionality, his class went in for the surgery that would brand them as "POD" pilots forever.

It was a very painful procedure; they had to bore data jacks into the back of his skull and down his spine to his shoulder blades, it was a necessary operation to make his dream come true. 2 weeks later when the class was done with recovery 5% of the class was still partially paralyzed due to nerve damage in the spine when they were putting in the jacks. Opiboble was lucky his surgeon had done a great job and didn’t even leave scars around the data jacks speckled across his head and spine. Thanks to the Jovians the 5% with nerve damage would be fine in another 3 weeks, have to love tissue re-gerneraton.

After three more months of spaceship integration exercises, takes a while getting used to your eyes being camera-drones and your body a ship, his class was graduated and everyone given 10k ISK and their first ships. Once the graduation ceremony was over Opiboble Inte ran to the Capsuling facilities to get into the capsule, better known as "POD", which would be his home for years to come.

First Taste of Space

Once encapsulated, him and his POD where transferred to his hanger and deposited into his new ship. He rushed through the setup of his FTL-C mail and live chat systems and undocked as fast as C&C would let him. Minutes later he was viewing space through his Camera Drones and loving every moment of it. He had been in space before, pearing out the windows on passenger transports with his parents, but this... was different. He could see everything in such detail, and look at anything he wanted at any angle he wanted; he could tell already that this was going to be as amazing as the stories he heard as a kid.
