Overview

The Lai Dai Corporation is the primary corporation that makes up the Lai Dai Megacorporation. While the Megacorporation is involved in just about every aspect of business from starships to real estate to entertainment, the core Lai Dai Corporation conducts technology research and development and manufactures the products of its research programs. From its research programs and manufacturing lines, Lai Dai has produced some now common quality products.

Politics

The Lai Dai Corporation is politically part of the Patriot faction. The Patriot faction is lead by Kaalakiota Corporation and also includes Wiyrkomi Corporation. The political faction is chiefly concerned with the Caldari State's status versus the other interstellar empires economically and militarily and embrace their Caldari cultural heritage.[1] As part of its political goal to make the State stronger economically, Lai Dai is the primary supporter of the School of Applied Knowledge.

In the wake of the May/June 110 reforms and liberation (or invasion) of Caldari Prime, the Patriot faction is concerned about the populism of Tibus Heth, but agree with many of the changes he has brought on and the liberation of Caldari Prime, albeit quietly.[2]

Lai Dai's politics are not solely driven by its association with the Patriot faction. Lai Dai is heavily invested in both Amarr and the Khanid corporations. Lai Dai took advantage of the political alliance forged after the ending of the Caldari-Gallente War and invested in the Carthum Conglomerate and later Khanid Innovation, supplying both with an infusion of technological creativity needed to grow and reach their goals. This close relationship with the Amarr and Khanid mean that Lai Dai is unlikely to work against the Amarr in its interactions with the Caldari State as a whole. This some times results with the corporation having a conflict of interest concerning matters of the State and its normal political allies.[3][4]

Products

Lai Dai Corporation's research and development efforts have produced a multitude of products from cloning tubes to starships. Below are some of Lai Dai's most well known products. Lai Dai ships favor a balanced mix of ship systems, making them very versatile but also less powerful when it comes to specific tactics.

A Raptor

The Raptor

The Raptor is an Interceptor based off the Condor. The Raptor, while slower than its cousin the Crow, has additional systems that give it a longer reach with warp disruptors and scramblers.

A Kitsune

The Kitsune

The Kitsune is an Electronic Attack Frigate based off the Griffin. The Kitsune is a recent development out of Lai Dai. It is a very capable ECM platform, competing with the Blackbird despite being a smaller ship.

A Hawk

The Hawk

The Hawk is an Assault Ship based off the Merlin. It is a classic Caldari ship, relying on shields for defense and missiles for offense. The Hawk is well rounded, like most Assault Ships, and is capable of taking on mainline cruisers.

A Manticore

The Manticore

The Manticore is a Covert Ops Stealth Bomber based off the Kestrel. It is capable of using Cruise Missile Launchers or Bomber Launchers. Cruise missiles are normally found on Battleships, giving the Ma

A Cerberus
A Cerberus
The Cerberus

The Cereberus is a Heavy Assault Ship based off the Caracal. Moving away from their traditionally balanced all-round designs, Lai Dai created a very specialized - and dangerous - missile boat in the Cerberus. Many have speculated that due to recent friction between Caldari megacorporations, LD may be looking to beef up their own police force with these missile-spewing monstrosities. No cruiser currently in existence can match the superiority of the Cerberus's onboard missile system. With a well-trained pilot jacked in, this fanged horror is capable of unleashing a hail of missiles to send even the most seasoned armor tankers running for cover.

A Basilisk
A Basilisk
The Basilisk

The Basilisk is a Logistics Ship based off the Osprey. Lai Dai have always favored a balanced approach to their mix of on-board systems, leading to a line-up of versatile ships but providing very little in terms of tactical specialization. With the Basilisk, their aim was to continue pushing forward the development of cutting-edge defense optimization systems while providing powerful support capability. Following in the time-honored Caldari spaceship design tradition, the Basilisk sports top-of-the-line on-board computer systems specially designed to facilitate shield transporting arrays, while sacrificing some of the structural strength commonly found in vessels of its class.

A Scorpion

The Scorpion

The first Scorpion-class battleship was launched only a couple of years ago, and those that have been built are considered to be prototypes. Little is known of its capabilities, but what has been garnered suggests that the Scorpion is crammed to the brink with sophisticated hi-tech equipment that few can match. Ishukone developped the Raven as competition for the Scorpion.[5]

A Golem

The Golem

Geared toward versatility and prolonged deployment in hostile environments, Marauders represent the cutting edge in today’s warship technology. While especially effective at support suppression and wreckage salvaging, they possess comparatively weak sensor strength and may find themselves at increased risk of sensor jamming. Nevertheless, these thick-skinned, hard-hitting monsters are the perfect ships to take on long trips behind enemy lines. Lai Dai won the bid to use Duvolle Labs's hardpoint technology and the Golem is the resulting product built on the Raven hull.[6]
