Jarod Garamonde (Character)
Jarod Garamonde, a Gallente, began his capsule pilot career, in YC109 (IRL 2007). Admittedly, his interest began, during a night of binge-drinking with his best friend, in which he looked up at the stars, from his homeworld, and commented "I could totally fight people, up there." In the beginning of his spacefaring life, he was rash, and daring, often to his own undoing. Soon after, however, he was contacted by the CEO of M3 Corp, and given an offer to join their ranks. He was briefly involved in inter-corporation combat, using a Thorax-class Cruiser. However, his penchant for going "off on his own" resulted in a sneak-attack, while hunting Serpentis Pirates, by an infamous capsuleer pirate, known as Njalli. Garamonde's Megathron-class Battleship was destroyed, in the engagement, and Garamonde, himself went missing, for over two years. Due to this, M3 Corp grudgingly dropped him from their rolls. In YC111, Garamonde resurfaced, at the station outside Oursulaert III, and resumed his solo-flying, in a much more cautious manner. He joined the now-defunct Gallente Sparrows corporation, in an effort to further his aims, but when the corporation fell apart, he had made his way, alone, to the low-security solar system, Ane. It was there that Garamonde first met his two constant companions... rogue capsuleers operating through Department of Defence, under the codenames HandofSatan, and Gamertrav, under whose tutelage, Jarod Garamonde became a moderately accomplished combat pilot. Although losing several Myrmidon-class Battlecruisers, Garamonde has nonetheless been partly or solely responsible for the destruction of over 100 capsuleer ships, mostly occurring in his long-time homesystems of Ane and Seyllin. After a parting of interests with their corporation, Gamertrav, HandofSatan, and Jarod Garamonde left Department of Defence, and joined Blackwater USA, then members of the Gentleman's Club alliance. Family issues required Garamonde to suspend his capsuleer registration, for just under 6 months, afterwhich, he returned to space. Garamonde had a falling-out with the CEO of Blackwater USA, and moved his assets back to Oursulaert, where he started a new corporation, known as Action Bastards, in an effort to assist new capsule pilots. Leaving the corporation to a trusted friend, Garamonde soon re-allied with his partner-in-crime, Gamertrav, and joined Antiquated, where he was involved in defending the interests of his corporation, with frequent trips to high-security space, to conduct missions for the Federation Navy out of Dodixie, manufacturing ships and weapons in Oursulaert, and engaging in occasional single-combat Frigate duels with other capsuleers in the surrounding solar systems. Currently, Garamonde is enlisted with the Federal Defense Union, participating in Factional Warfare, against the Caldari and Amarr militias. Jarod Garamonde is unusual from other combat-focused capsuleers, in that he has publicly announced his refusal to be involved in the destruction of occupied capsules... a personal tenet of faith that not only has he never violated, but has afforded him both praise, and ridicule (mostly of the lighthearted variety) from other pod pilots. Preferring, recently, to engage his opponents in Ishkur-class Assault Frigates, Garamonde has also been seen flying a Proteus-class Strategic Cruiser under the banner of the Federation Navy, as well as Nemesis-class Stealth Bombers, Rifter-class Frigates, and Brutix, Ferox, Hurricane, and Myrmidon class Battlecruisers... very rarely is he seen in command of any Battleships, however, having lost mostly all interest in such ships. Garamonde's demeanor, in his interaction with other capsuleers, tends to gravitate towards the flippant, and aloof. He rarely shows anger, even in combat, preferring to be stubborn and/or insolent, albeit, in a humorous vein, and is often known for laughing aloud, after losing a ship, in battle, and congratulating his opponent, or thanking his opponent for engaging him, and inviting him to "try again, some other day", when he emerges victorious. He has often stated that he regards the public communication channel for Oursulaert, as a playground for pilots from all walks of life, to freely vent their frustrations, perversions, and humor, and has been famous in his indulgence in those types of discussions, stating that "Oursulaert is the home of comedy". Any time he is spotted in a solar system, it's almost guaranteed that his playful taunts and arbitrary comments will be published, for all to enjoy or despise. He is also known for occasionally making monetary donations to inexperienced capsuleers who lose ships to his acts of aggression, that display honor or tenacity, in their exchanges of gunfire, as well as offering helpful advice to new capsuleers on ship fittings, mission-running, and combat. A true self-styled "honorable pirate", if there ever was one. Top Contributors For This Page |
