Jamyl Sarum, or more properly Empress Jamyl I, is the current Empress of the Amarr Empire.

Though she lost the prior succession trials, and was seen to die in the ritual suicide demanded of heirs who lose the trials, she recently returned with a mysterious superweapon to save the Amarr at the Battle of Mekhios.

Shortly thereafter, she was proclaimed Empress, despite some opposition from those who wondered about her mysterious return to life. She was proclaimed, though, in an unorthodox way, as she was accepted by all Heirs and the Theology Council as Empress, and no Trial by combat was made, as it was usual.

Her physical appearance is strong and shocking. Her beauty is sometimes described as beyond the human realm, and her physical features are surprisingly strong.

According to the EVE novel, she has the ability to read people's minds and communicate directly with them, even if they are solar systems away, unless they are near the EVE Gate. She seems to be fighting an internal combat against her old self, as a result of some alteration that was done to her during her cloning process by an unknown entity.
