Minerals are used in the construction of virtually everything in New Eden. Their most common sources are from raw asteroids, reprocessed items, and from alloys and compounds dropped by rogue drones.

Mineral Types

There are 8 varieties of minerals in EVE.

Mineral Slang
Tritanium Trit
Pyerite Pye
Mexallon Mex
Isogen Iso
Nocxium Nocx
Zydrine Zyd
Megacyte Mega
Morphite Morph

All Tech 1 ships and equipment are comprised of the first seven minerals. Tech 2 ships and equipment also require Morphite, an extremely rare and valuable eighth mineral type, along with a number of special components. It requires Deep Core Mining techniques to extract the ore (Mercoxit) that is refined into Morphite.

Mineral Value

These are the base mineral values that were used prior to the Tyrannis expansion to calculate a ship's insurance payout. For actual mineral prices, consult your local market. Prices are generally determined by their scarcity and the quantities needed to construct popular ships and equipment. Usually Tritanium is the cheapest and most abundant, and Morphite the most expensive and rare.

Ores vs Minerals

This table shows how many minerals one batch size of each ore type will yield.

Table assumes perfect refining. Bold numbers represent the highest amount of that mineral per m³ of ore.
