Logistics drones can be used on any ship with a drone bay that has the available space and bandwidth to deploy them. Sadly logistics drones cannot be used on yourself (just as you can't commit suicide with your own drones). You can however spider-tank by putting your drones on someone else and theirs on you.

Typically logistics ships use small light drones as they can field more of them and use them across multiple targets easier. Their faster speed also helps in getting their reps to target quickly.
