Independent Miners Guild (Player corporation)
The Independent Miners Guild (IMG) is a long-running corporation most notable as a founding member of the Coalition of Free Stars. The IMG was founded in YC105 and was one of the first corporations to be founded after pod pilots began to roam the stars. As the name suggests it is an industrial corporation with a strong emphasis on mining related activities. It is a founding member and current executor corporation of the Guild Alliance.
PoliticsTerritorialThe IMG does not currently claim any territory, but previously claimed space in Querious when part of the Coalition of Free Stars and in Catch when part of Capital Storm. Rules of EngagementThe IMG follows a policy of NRDS and operate an anti-piracy policy. HistoryEarly HistoryThe IMG was initially founded by Edward Preble in YC 105 in anticipation of the first capsuleer licenses being issued by CONCORD. The corporation was originally an all-Minmatar corporation based in the Heimatar region. It rose to notoriety when it was revealed that they supplied ships and minerals to the then infamous pirate corporation M0o corp. Under the leadership of CEO Edward Preble the corporation founded a deep space mining division, which began conducting ninja mining operations in the then untamed lawless areas of space. The corporation's activities in the Querious region led to it forming a coalition with several other corporations working in the area. This eventually grew into an early player alliance called the Coalition of Free Stars, the first alliance to have an 'open door' policy with their territory. Coalition of Free Stars
The Coalition of Free Stars (CFS) started as a group of corporations who agreed to work together to police the Querious region and keep it open to peaceful traffic. This grew into one of the earliest alliances before they were officially recognised by CONCORD. The Coalition had a military wing, the Coalition Navy which patrolled the region and operated under a policy of NRDS. When IMG's founder Edward Preble was selected as CEO of the navy and as President of the Coalition he had to resign as CEO of IMG and selected Makhar as his replacement. Corp TheftIn an effort to build a new management team Makhar made one of the corporation's founding members a director and his second-in-command. V'casslord Daeth shortly after being given director roles cleared out all assets from the corporation and immediately kicked all members except for himself and Makhar. This was a disastrous blow to the corporation, which was forced to take a back-seat in CFS affairs whilst it recovered from this and rebuilt the corporation, almost from scratch. Membership prior to the incident was stable at around 140 members, but a large portion of those members decided not to rejoin the corporation and it would be many years until the corporation returned to the operational strength it had been at previously. V'casslord Daeth was removed from the corporation and went to join an ally of IMG's former trading partner m0o corp and eventually left New Eden entirely. After a period of rebuilding Makhar resigned as CEO leaving Teister at the helm. While Makhar voluntarily repealed his pilot's license and settled down to raise a family on his home planet in Hulm, the corporation continued to operate for several months. However it was eventually all-but disbanded. Teister resigned as CEO when he took over from Edward Preble as CFS President and disbanded IMG leaving Makhar as a placeholder CEO in a now-empty corporation and a period of inactivity followed. RefoundingSome years later after the eventual demise of the CFS Makhar re-qualified as a pod pilot and began rebuilding the corporation from scratch. By this time the corporation's founder Edward Preble had founded another corporation Bi0lith Industries, also an industrial corporation, and they were operating out of Amarr low sec. Makhar relocated the corporation to an area close to where Bi0lith was operating in order to allow the two corporations to work together more closely. The two corporations merged briefly but after a change in leadership they split again and went their separate ways with IMG moving to live in Caldari high sec in the Lonetrek region. Guild Alliance
After a period of near-constant wars with a variety of different corporations who saw the small corporation as an easy target it was decided to register a new alliance with CONCORD in order to allow IMG to work more closely with its friends and to increase the cost to those wanting to declare war on it. So it was that the Guild Alliance was formed. The alliance grew steadily to include a wide variety of different corporations. In order to once again begin making use of the rich resources available in lawless space the alliance moved to Amarr high sec space in a location with easy access to Providence region. Providence was, at that time, controlled by CVA who, very much like the CFS, had decided to keep their space open to all peaceful traffic and operated on a policy of NRDS. This allowed the Guild to thrive and grow. However, following the change to CONCORD's rules on sovereignty the CVA began to loose its grip on Providence and with increasing hostilities IMG and the Guild Alliance began to look for alternative sites. Capital Storm
Having to leave Providence and return to high security space led to a decline in membership and plans to take over sovereignty of their own area of space stalled. Eventually a partner was found in the already established alliance Capital Storm. Capital Storm was also going through a difficult transition having just left null sec space and a merger was agreed. All Guild Alliance corporations, including the IMG, joined Capital Storm with both Makhar and MattVonx having dual-leadership of the alliance. Capital Storm rented the system CB4-Q2 from The Initiative. in the Catch region and quickly upgraded it. In order to be effective as co-CEO of the alliance Makhar needed to leave IMG to join the alliance executor corporation and so Selviran took over as CEO of IMG. IMG made good use of their system and quickly upgraded the system to Industry level 3 giving them good access to the game's rarest ores, coupled with the military upgrades also installed in the system, the corporation prospered and grew, not quite to pre-theft CFS levels but to a very strong position. Following the invasion of Catch by Against ALL Authorities and their friends IMG was eventually forced to leave. Many of Capital Storm's member corporations left the alliance and either joined other alliances living in lawless space or went off to do their own thing elsewhere. The alliance itself was sold to new owners and IMG reformed the Guild Alliance. Recent HistoryThe IMG went through a short period of time as a holding corporation in high sec with a small group of members. However a short time later, Makhar returned to lead the corporation and to rebuild once again. Changes in recruitment policy and corporation direction led to rapid expansion and the corporation very quick surpassed the operational strength it had whilst living in Catch. In the summer of YC 113 IMG returned to Providence to re-establish an operational base there and to support the CVA effort to recapture the region. After a few weeks of being unable to progress with the corporation owing to the nature of the area of space they were living in and following the resignation of some high profile members of the corporation including its CEO and a director the corp was forced to leave high sec and ultimately became mostly inactive. MembershipIMG recruits selectively and requires extensive background checks to be performed. The recruitment process begins with applicants completing an online application form on the corporation's Galnet site, followed by an interview with a Recruitment Officer once background checks have been completed.
