Ignatium. (Player corporation)
The Beginning and Early DaysIgnatium was created on December 31st, 2008 as a merger between 2 corporations PVP members; Athanasius Inc. and The Black Legionnares, who had been working together for a short time. The merger did not end up going as planned, as many of the more PVE oriented members that had come along initially did not want to stay and expose themselves to the type of PVP that the members of Athanasius were accustomed to (lowsec piracy). The excess fat was trimmed, and what was left were 10 players, most of whom were die-hard PVP veterans of many other wars and corporations, along with a few new people who had a strong drive to learn how to fight the only way that is useful: by being thrown into the frying pan and being told to keep themselves from burning. The corporation experienced a good bit of success early on, effectively crushing the local corps in the system of Heydieles with small roaming gangs, usually consisting of no more than 2-3 players at any given time, and often individual members engaging in solo work. Around this time, the Caldari Militia had finally beefed up enough to the point that one couldn't go more than a few jumps in any direction without running into a massive Factional Warfare blob; it was due to the sheer overwhelming numbers (which would have been less of a problem if all the members weren't outlaws) that the corp moved to Syndicate to dig up some fresh targets. Once in Syndicate, the corporation would bump into what would be it's first alliance: Rote Kapelle. Syndicate and our first AllianceThe initial push into Syndicate brought us in contact with Rote Kapelle; the two groups began running a few joint gangs with each other, and eventually an offer was extended to join STUGH as a trial member. Our small size made us the odd man out in an alliance dominated by 70-80 man corporations, but our intensity and knowledge of game mechanics made up for this. Over the next few months, we based out of KLYN-8 and proceeded to relentlessly attack the local inhabitants and shore up our presence as a major player in Syndicate. Eventually, a plan was formed to move into Cloud Ring and attack an alliance named Dara Cothrom, but unfortunately the attack fell through as our allies in Cry Havoc. were called in to help defend DACO from attack by other entities. This forced us to call off the move as we did not want to cause diplomatic issues with C H. For a few more weeks we ran operations out of Syndicate, but we were already prepared for a large scale move, and decided that rather than waste our momentum we would move down to Tasti in The Forge. Tasti, Geminate, Molden Heath and New FacesDuring the move to Tasti, The Executioners, who were a consolidation of a former allied alliance (Capital.Punishment), joined Rote Kapelle which boosted our roaming gang size rather considerably. Tasti turned out to be a great location for the alliance as it had access to multiple low-sec and null-sec regions, giving us a wide range of targets to choose from. Geminate at this time was populated by Wildly Inappropriate. which provided us with a very rich target supply. Nearby, Molden Heath and Etherium Reach were also loaded with potential targets. Gangs were taken out daily, usually around 2-3 times a day, and alliance activity remained good; this was also boosted by a group named Scum Alliance declaring war on us (the war lasted about 2-3 weeks). Around this time, the main leadership of the corporation started burning out as the group had been going 120% for a few months straight in Syndicate. This wasn't a problem at the time as the alliance allowed members to still find plenty of gangs to go out in, but gradually tensions within the alliance increased, and a new alliance leader was appointed. A decision was made to move out into N-DQ0D in the Great Wildlands, which created more friction. The initial move into GW was successful, but Cult of War had been setting up in GW as well, and they vastly outnumbered the alliance in pilots (and specifically capital ships) to the point where the N-DQ station was nearly permacamped by hostiles, making it impossible to break out without a large fleet assembled. Many alliance members had also never fully moved from Weld (our staging system for Molden Heath) as well, and it created a dynamic where half of the alliance would be trapped in N-DQ and the other half would be roaming low-sec in Molden Heath. Over time, this eventually lead to a personality conflict between two corporations in the alliance; The Executioners and Stimulus. Both groups had a vastly different style of playing, and it came to a head in September of 2009, which resulted in the departure of TEXN and the expulsion of another smaller corporation named Harlock's Vindicta [HARLO]. The manner of departure of HARLO and TEXN prompted us as a corporation to consider our place in the alliance, and on September 17th we departed Rote Kapelle amicably to find another path to take. Back to the Roots, Old Friends and the Second AllianceOnce we had left Rote Kapelle, the corporation had decided to move back to our ancestral home of Heydieles. Along with us came HARLO, and together we began running small fleets in the area again. This time around our numbers were slightly bolstered by a few new recruits, and combined with the support from HARLO we were able to engage the large militia gangs with reasonable success. Eventually we learned that our friends in TEXN had moved into the somewhat nearby system of Eugales, and quickly the lightbulbs started going off in our heads. HARLO and UNKWN discussed the creation of a new alliance so that all of us could fly together again under the same banner, and thus was created Aggressive Dissonance <ERIS>. TEXN was invited to join as well, and after a few days and some clarifications we had a third member of our crazy new venture. HARLO and UNKWN decided to move from Heydieles to Eugales as our assets in the area had always been a bare minimum (we have always operated light on our feet) and TEXN had a supply chain set up from empire to Eugales, which simplified our acquisition of ship replacements. For approximately a month, ERIS roamed the area constantly, running around Placid and up into Syndicate on a daily basis. Pure Blind, Sovereignty and WarRight around the time that the Dominion expansion, along with all the sovereignty mechanic changes, were going to take place, we decided that it might be fun to make a play for space, and overnight we had set up control towers in Pure Blind, specifically in the Y2-6EA solar system. Unfortunately we missed the 7 day deadline to gain automatic sovereignty level 5 after Dominion deployment, but nonetheless we began shifting assets up into Pure Blind to be ready for the onslaught after the patch went live. Immediately after Dominion went live, TCUs were placed by ERIS in Y2- and the nextdoor system of DT-TCD. Because of the Dominion patch being such an overhaul, all sovereignty claims were non-disputable for 7 days after the patch. We used this time to sort out moon mining and supply chains. At the same time, the newly resurrected FREGE Alliance along with Maru Ka'ge began assaulting our POS infrastructure. This re-invigorated the alliance (and the corporation), which had been starting to slow down a bit, and an alliance was formed with our neighbors Violent Society to push back the larger alliances. This lead to a month long period with fights raging back and forth, and eventually ended with Maru Ka'ge losing several carriers in a failed hot-drop and their last remaining staging POS being bubble-caged while it was being destroyed. A few days after this, Maru Ka'ge disbanded and any remaining members joined the main corporation Unknown-Entity and leaving to join another alliance. FREGE struck a deal with the alliance to be allowed to pull down any remaining infrastructure for a fee, and soon the area was clear of any hostiles. Surprise Outpost and Cry Havoc. On December 28th, 2009, VSO deployed an outpost in their system of D2-HOS without warning ERIS in advance. This immediately created incredible strain on the alliance's diplomatic relationship with VSO, as they had been warned to not place an outpost as it would draw in the larger players who we were not ready to defend against yet, still being at sovereignty level 2 (sov level 3 is required for Cynosural Jammers). Sure enough, not 1 week later the system was being invaded by Cry Havoc., who had brought along their entire capital contingent consisting of multiple titans. Several attempts to fight back were made, some more successful than others, but eventually the alliance had to make a choice between staying and being overwhelmed by far superior hardware and numbers, or to bow out and leave VSO to their fate. The alliance was divided on the issue, but eventually the decision to leave was made and assets were evacuated to Eugales. Molden Heath mk.2 and the Beginning of the End of ERISAfter Pure Blind, the corporation suggested to the alliance to move to Molden Heath as the targets around Eugales were beginning to become scarce. After a painstaking logistics chain, we arrived in our new home system of Hegfunden. Ops were run daily again, but the general membership had once again become burnt out from pushing 120% while in Pure Blind. However, the alliance's reputation for punching above our weight class was becoming more known, and over the course of a month several new corps were added. Not all ended up working out, but one of the groups who stayed was a corporation named Absinthe Brothers. This bulked up the alliance's EU presence, but after a month or so of ops, the alliance's participation rate began dropping rapidly. Many people became bitter at each other because of the lack of activity, and while several attempts were made to find a new direction for the alliance, none stuck and tensions continued to rise. End of ERISEventually tensions rose to the point that the largest corporation of the alliance, TEXN, began to discuss departing the alliance. A new unified front was proposed by the 3 major CEOs at the time, including the corp's CEO, but this too failed to hold as half of the alliance wanted to try and regain space and the other half wanted nothing to do with the headache of sov again. This culminated on April 17 of 2010 when TEXN departed the alliance. Ignatium. had become all but stagnant at this point due to the leadership's hatred of drama and general apathy towards the crappy attitude within the alliance, and diminishing interest in the game. On May 30th, control of the alliance was handed over to HARLO and Ignatium. departed the alliance for good. Top Contributors For This Page |
