Wiki talk pages aren't aways the best places to discuss Evelopedia related topics. That's why we have #evelopedia -channel on Internet Relay Chat (IRC), located on Coldfront IRC network. There you can discuss topics in real time with different contact groups and fellow editors.

You can identify YARR team members from "@" aka Oper status in front of their names, [YARR] as start of their nickname and "yarr@eve-yarr.net" being their host.

How to connect to #evelopedia

Quickest way to join our chat is to go to http://www.coldfront.net/pjirc/chat.htm and type: "/join #evelopedia".

You can also download a shareware version of IRC client called "mIRC" at http://www.mirc.com.

Once the program is installed, start it up and close the "About mIRC" window by clicking the "x" in the upper right corner. In the Options window, enter the information requested in the available fields. Remember that this will be available to others, so don't put personal details there that you don't wish to make public, such as your real name. Instead, select a unique handle which you will register after you're connected. Click "Add," then type this information into the fields:

  1. Description: Coldfront
  2. IRC Server: irc.coldfront.net
  3. Port: 6667
  4. Other fields may be left blank
  5. Click "Add" and return to the mIRC Options window

Now you are ready to click the "Connect to the Server" button. Once you’re connected, follow these steps to create a unique IRC nickname and join the channel. Brackets are used for illustration purposes only and should not be typed in the command lines:

  1. type: /msg nickserv register [password] [a valid e-mail address]
  2. An authorization code will be e-mailed to you. Follow the directions to enter this code and complete the registration process.
  3. type: /msg nickserv identify [your password]
  4. type: /join #evelopedia
