Heung Chent-Shi (Character)
Heung Chent-Shi [Hee-Yewn Chent-Sher] (born 87.11.20) is a citizen of the Gallente Federation and a member of the Jin-Mei Sang Do caste. Heung served in the Federal Air Forces (Operations Support Squadron; Air Traffic Control) from 105YC to 109YC before being accepted into the Center for Advanced Studies. Chent-Shi graduated CAS via the rated capsuleer-pilot program in 113YC with minor distinctions.
Early Life and SchoolingHeung Chent-Shi was born in the Ysiette constellation on Blameston III, the third son of Yu Zhen (née Karsati) and Nan Li Lien Chent-Shi - a minor dignitary out of Chandeille. He was raised in his family's industrial complex estate and attended several private grammar schools of notable Jin-Mei influence. Whether out of a sense of cultural traditionalism or a mild form of xenophobia on his parents’ behalf, the decision to place him in primarily Jin-Mei educational systems is unknown. Many speculative theories amongst local gossip rings (particularly those pertaining to the Chent-Shi name) share the common themes of shame and atonement as motivation for a strong adherence to Jin-Mei culturalism. Heedless of this fact, Heung was noted on several occasions to have absconded classes in order to frequent locales popular with the Gallente and Intaki populace. He continued his education at a University of Caille-sponsored prepatory school where he became involved in student politics at the behest of his father who, feeling his third son was becoming far too enamored with the typical Gallentean lifestyle, thought focus was needed. In his 11th year he became Vice President of the Student Body and became President in his 12th year. Peers attributed his success in this endeavor as a natural condition of his upbringing while others still, familiar with Heung’s predilection for vice and his association with less than favorable entities, felt the elections had been fixed. In either case, for good or bad, classmates were introduced to the world of Gallentean politics. Professional Career - Pre-CapsuleerGallente Federation Air Force (GFAF)Heung Chent-Shi's military service began in 105YC when he enlisted with the Federal Air Forces under an Air Traffic Controller specialty code. Following basic military training, he went on to complete technical training at Blameston III - earning distinguished graduate - and then being stationed at Yona IV. Chent-Shi would serve the four-year term of enlistment at two installations on Yona IV, being honourably discharged in 109YC after having submitted a package for and being accepted into the GFAF's rated capsuleer-piloting program via the Center for Advanced Studies. Center for Advanced Studies (CAS)From 109YC to 113YC Heung studied at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Cistuvaert system with a specialization in Engineering. Eyes ever on the prize of so-called ascension, he pushed himself to excel in his studies, earning himself high marks and high praise from instructors and peers in written feedback. It was in late 110YC that he’d met fellow CAS student Kalay Cardael and fell in love. The next couple years that would follow Heung would consider his best and happiest. He was devastated to learn that without notice Kalay’s scholarship was pulled and she was being removed from the capsuleer program – due to return to Luminaire II (Corufeu) immediately. It wasn’t until news of the invasion of Caldari Prime and the subsequent inquiries by Federal officials concerning Kalay Cardael that Heung gleaned a hint of the truth as to her background. Regardless, certain feelings remained, and while hardening his heart to such things for the forseeable future, he never forgot her. In 113YC he would graduate CAS and undergo the procedure from ordinary human to capsuleer. Professional Career - CapsuleerEleutherian Guard (EL-G)Joining the Eleutherian Guard in 113YC Heung was officially commissioned into the Federal Defense Union. He currently holds the rank of Shield Commander with the FDU and Officer Aspirant within the EL-G. Personality and BeliefsHeung, despite his dalliances into mainstream Gallentean culture, remains very much the traditionalist his father sought to make of him. It was his inquisitive nature and desire to experience new sensations firsthand that motivated him to look beyond the boundaries of his family’s influence to which he was otherwise comfortable. Rarely aggressive in any communication or interaction, he is rather respectful of tone and outlook preferring to keep his opinions as just that. His. That being said, he is a fervent defender of the Federation and that which it stands for (often at odds with his other family members who prefer to focus only on the affairs of the Jin-Mei people) - going so far as to join with the GFAF and then pursuing capsuleer-status in order to become a member of the Federal Defense Union. He is a registered member of the Progressive Party. Heung is friendly by default - a practitioner of the first impression. Despite this his demeanor is usually one of a serious or thoughtful nature. Genuine smiles are few and far between outside of intimate company. Capsuleers, he'd decided, while fighting for, coming from, or espousing the doctrines of a particular empire (be they friend or foe) are by their natures a "nation" apart. On comms he feels an amicable (i.e. non-aggressive) relation can be maintained if even in space they are shooting one another apart. Religion is a private matter to Chent-Shi who does not conduct any religious practices in a public setting. From time to time he is heard whispering to various spirits in any number of situations which is a direct reference to the polytheistic faith of the Gallente Federation's "Moon Gods" or, more specifically, the Jin-Mei version of "spirits". It is unknown, however, to the casual observer if this is a sign of faith or merely an affectation in rhetoric. A clone, Heung had heard once, was nothing more than an echo of a life once had. When he’d found himself waking into his first clone, this same thought came crashing down on him. So soon after his “death” he neither has yet to inform his family nor is he so certain he has come to terms with it himself. Top Contributors For This Page |
