Proposed Logo of the Heiian Society
Heiian Society is a cooperative group devoted to the study, preservation, and advancement of Caldari cultural values. It is presently led by Dex Nederland (LDIS).
Heiian: This word cannot readily be translated, it is the concept of supreme loyalty over anything else to the State. It applies readily to military service but can be applied to any other work aiding the State.[1]

Current Projects
- Corporate Registry : To better enable capsuleers searching for Caldari related corporations, the Society has established the Caldari Corporate Registry. This registry lists capsuleer corporations with the State, its subsidary components, the megacorporations, and the Gurista. Corporations interested in joining should edit the Caldari Corporate Registry to add their name under their associated megacorporation.
Organization
Goals
- Promote Caldari ideals and culture
- Provide guidance on how the individual pod pilot can support Caldari ideals and culture
- Provide an arena for discussion between those supporting the State
- Act as recruitment tools for State associated corporations
- Act as a networking forum for State associated corporations
The Heiian College
The society conducts its practical efforts through its college. In this forum, capsuleer members and guests meet for discussion of topics concerning Caldari culture, politics, capsuleer corporations, and hosted events. General discussion is highly encouraged with those unfamiliar with Caldari customs, history, and culture encouraged to ask questions.

The Heiian Congress
The society's moderators and organizers are called the Heiian Congress. This group consist of individuals who have demonstrated an insight into Caldari culture and are generally supportive of the Caldari State. Internal State political affiliation is not a requirement to be selected for membership in the Congress.
History
Founding
The Heiian Society was officially founded on 110.04.22 (22 April 2008), by Dex Nederland. [2] It was founded at a low point within the State, just prior to the events that catapulted Tibus Heth to power.
"The Caldari State is in a tough position at the moment. Large parts of the population are unemployeed, increasing tension between the megacorporations, a slowing economy, and plenty of external pressures are challenging the State, its corporations, and its people. All of this and the State's pod pilot community is spread out and disconnected from each other.
The Heiian Society aspires to bring the Caldari pod pilot community closer together and provide the Caldari pilot with a means to interact with others loyal to the Caldari State, Caldari Corporations, and the Caldari people. The Society hopes to be able to answer questions that the uninformed pilot has concerning Caldari politics, culture, and events. Beyond this it acts as a means to connect Caldari corporations together for mutual support outside of an 'alliance' structure, allowing mutually beneficial agreements to be reached. I think most importantly the society will work to raise general awareness of Caldari culture, traditions, and values.
The Heiian Society currently operates a public channel - Heiian College. The channel is meant to be a channel for all those pilots who support or want to support the State and its corporations. Open discussion of Caldari culture, traditions, and the events shaping the State and the Caldari is highly encouraged. It is also a place for new graduates or those returning to service to talk to pilots who are currenlty members of various corporations that support the State or State corporations."
Past Projects
Caldari Prime Relief Effort
In 110.05 (May 2008), the native Caldari on Caldari Prime found themselves under martial law and oppressed "for their own safety" by Federation authorities. The Heiian Society responded to this distress by organizing a relief effort to include security for the native Caldari population where possible and for the continuing work at sites of cultural importance to the Caldari.
Beginning on 05.11 (11 May), the Heiian Society began collecteing donations for relief supplies from across the cluster[3]. The society's efforts were abruptly halted on 05.15 (15 May), following the Malkalen Incident and converted to an evacuation action. Over the four days the relief effort took place the society collected the following [4]:
Caldari Ethics of Conflict
- Soldier's Morals : The discussion defining the moral landscape of pod pilot views on the role of the State soldier. Investigations have focused on popular conceptions of lethal force and murder with consideration given to traditional Raata value systems.
State Politics
- Merits of the Providential Directorate : The discussion boiled down to a argument at least a year old over whether Tibus Heth's actions and motivations are taking the State in the appropriate direction.
- Airkio Strategic Planning Convention : The convention originally intended to have several discusses. However due to time constraints and available panel experts to topics were presented and discussed. Dex Nederland's presentation focused on Black Rise development and resulted in various required actions to be taken by the capsuleer community to enable such development. John Revenent's presentation focused on the opportunities for Caldari enterprises in Providence. A clear division of interest became apparent between those supporting each idea. A transcript of both discussions can be found here.
Corporations of the Year
- Corporations of the Year YC111 : The Heiian Society will be sponsoring the award of corporation of the year starting in YC 111. Three categories will be presented Caldari Corporation of the Year, Non-Caldari Corporation of the Year, and New Corporation of the Year.
