HED-GP (System)HistoryHED-GP is the main gateway from Empire space to the southern 0.0 regions due to its unique access to Catch, the most highly interconnected among nullsec regions in the galaxy. It leads from Keberz (0.5) in Khanid space to Catch. A unparalleled choke-point system, it is familiar to thousands of pilots who wish trade, travel, to pirate or to catch pirates. HED-GP is a key chokepoint system, at the height of its relevancy being the only direct route to high-security space possessed by the expansive Southern Coalition, the other three highsec access points to the Galactic South located in Providence, defended and patrolled heavily by the Providence Holders. Since the destruction of the Holders Coalition and later the Southern Coalition, the reliance on HED-GP by later owners has decreased. During the entirety of HED-GP's history, attacks on the system have been regarded with utmost seriousness; one of the most notable incidents was an attempt by LFA to claim the system (and nearby systems), which escalated into a retaliatory siege on Providence known as the Providence War. There have been only two serious interruptions to AAA's ownership of the system; the first was a 3-month stretch in late 2010 when the The Initiative wrested it, along with the vast majority of AAA's space, in a massive attack against the alliance later known as the Catch War. The second has been ongoing since August 2011, where it was sized by Red Alliance. as the first stages of the Second Catch War between the Southern Coalition and the DRF, then later transferred to White Noise., who remain in possession of the system at the time of this writing. Due to the immense amount of capsuleer traffic and valuable cargo passing through the system at any given time, it is consistently the leader in fatalities in all of nullsec space. Early YearsThe first attempt to claim it by a POS was by the Xetic Federation to help during the Curse Alliance War (shortly after POS technology became available), at the time POS where literally impossible to remove Curse Alliance followed suit some time later. Both POS where later removed by their owners as the political reasons for their existence had gone. All factions pre-IAC regarded it as "no man's land" and was never claimed for a long time as other alliances would quickly react. This was the case when D2 alliance setup a POS in the system that was quickly removed by combined forces of AXE and ASCN.
