Frontal Impact (FI) is the name of a leading team in the ISRC Racing League. FI has won one vice-championship and has a strong Assault Frigate racing tradition.

History

Formerly known as M’8’s, a corporate team started in Season III, Frontal Impact expanded in Season IV to include in their fold the then-reigning Assault Frigate champion, Dougalar, who had survived half a season of constant attacks from then-NeuroGEN pilot Darina Rea to bring home the corporate as well as the individual title back in Season III. With less shooting, she managed to retain that title also in Season IV by a comfortable margin.

Season V proved different. The Assault Frigate title was in danger early on when Darina Rea switched there from Interceptors in Race 3 and proceeded to soar through the standings. The turning point turned out to be a disqualification of Dougalar on Race 9 over technical issues, an event which suddenly tied her in second place with Kopenhagen of Dragonstar. In race 10, Frontal Impact flew to kill all opposition.

During the confrontations in a very bloody Race 10, Dougalar lost a pod to an accident involving a Scuderia Caille pilot. Although their gamble didn’t work against Dirtside – who thus stole the title – they did manage to hold on to the vice-championship by docking before Dragonstar.

Frontal Impact have always been one of the smallest teams in the League with only two to three pilots actually making it onto the track for them. Although for a while they made public statements pointing toward them quitting races, they did show up for Season VI with some changes on the horizon: Irongut and Dougalar swapped classes.

Frontal Impact have no public charter and they have made no public statements regarding aggression. This brought much speculation on whether the increasingly strained relationship between Frontal Impact and the recently-merged Scuderia Dragonstar would result in aggressions during Season VI. This proved not to be the case.
