Yes, it´s finally here, video coverage of some of the things that went on at the 2005 Fanfest.
Unfortunately the footage filmed by the professional camera crew at our fanfest was unusable so we had to divert to a video shot by one of our staff members. Therefore you might experience problems with audio quality on some of the footage. But hey, you should have been there anyway!
The videos are in chronological order (except Hilmar Keynote) and are from the first day of the Fanfest.
- Contains footage from before the first lecture and the introduction itself.
- Hilmar Keynote Speech
- Davíð H. Brandt [Papa Smurf] (Senior Network Programmer) covers EVE’s scalable server architecture and how the unique singleshard concept is implemented. The issues of server lag and responsiveness are discussed, as well as scalability, stability, distributed programming, multicasting, session distribution and load balancing.
- Kristján V. Jónsson [Zardoz] (Senior Programmer). It is getting harder for the CPU makers to pimp out more megahertz. The future lies in dual-core and multi-core CPU’s as well as upgrading from 32 bit to 64. Kristján explains how.
- Húni Hinrichsen [TomB] (Senior Game Designer) will dissect NPCs and spill their guts in front of the audience for further study. New NPC features will be revealed and more.
- Greg Kruk [ZOND3] shows how he created EVE Never Fades.
- A behind the scenes look at the new Evolution CGI movie.
- D. Speed [Redundancy] (Graphics Programmer). Anyone who’s taken part in a fleet battle knows that what happens with the frame-rate is as deadly as 1400mm cannon fire. Redundancy discusses the ongoing work rewriting one of the oldest subsystems in the Eve client.
- Torfi F. Ólafsson (Technical Artist) demonstrates how character faces are created at CCP. The demo will include never before seen faces.
- Reynir Harðarson (Creative Director) and Halldór F. Guðjónsson (Chief Technical Officer) talk about the story of EVE graphics. The graphical quality of other games seem to be catching up to EVE, so it’s time to take EVE to the next level.
- The EVE Championship semi-finals and finals shown on gigantic screens.
