Eve voice in eve gate

EVE Voice in EVE Gate

EVE Gate will see the introduction of a web based EVE Voice client, accessible without the need of having the client running in order to chat with alliance or corporation members. This is done through the Vivox Web Plugin, which is available for all major browsers (tested with Firefox, IE and Chrome), which will be installed when you open EVE Voice through EVE Gate for the first time. The plugin is not available for browsers on mobile devices (iPhone, Android phones etc.) and can not be installed on those devices. The Opera Browser is also currently not supported by the plugin.

To start using EVE Voice in EVE Gate, click on the "Voice" button in the main menu after selecting a character:

Installing the EVE Voice Web Plugin

If you open EVE Voice for the first time on a computer, you will be asked to install the Vivox Web Voice Plugin. The following screenshots display the installation on IE8, other browsers will be similar:

Clicking Install will ask you download and run the plug in:

There will be several confirmation requests asking for permission to run the plugin, which you will have to confirm if you want to use:

Check "Do not show me the warning for this program again" if you do not want to confirm this request every time you start EVE Voice through EVE Gate.

Depending on the firewall used, you might need to allow this separately as well:

If you have to setup your firewall manually, the required ports for EVE Voice are the same as ingame:

   * Incoming UDP port 5062
   * Outgoing TCP port 80 and 443
   * All destination UDP ports 12000 - 16000

Further troubleshooting would be the same as for EVE Voice in game:

Using the EVE Voice Web Plugin

Once installed, the interface looks like this:

The channel list will be empty if you have never joined the Audio chat in your corporation or Alliance chat in game before. Initially, you will only be able to join the Corporation or Alliance Voice channel using the web plugin. Other voice channels that you might have joined in game will currently not be available to join outside the game.

Clicking on a channel on the left list will join that channel, and update the right list with all players currently joined audio on that channel as well. Speakers will be denoted by an orange speech bubble next to their name. Also, every player joined into the Audio channel will see all players connecting to the chat through the EVE Voice Web Plugin, those can be recognized in game with the following Symbol:

Clicking the "Push to Talk" button will allow you to speak and releasing the mouse button will mute the microphone again. Alternatively, you can also unmute the microphone by clicking on the according icon on the upper right:
