Overview

The Drone Region War, or Drone Region Dramalamadingdong, as it is called "humorously" by Intrepid Crossing members, was a war that started in March 2009 when Ethereal Dawn and Intrepid Crossing splintered off from the Red Swarm Federation to form their own coalition, known as the Ethereal Crossing.

The Red Swarm Federation and the newly formed 'Ethereal Crossing' coalition were pitted against one another for disputed reasons; Goonswarm and Red Alliance's allies allege that Ethereal Dawn (ostensibly aligned with anti-GBC forces) retreated from the Delve front to backstab an ally (Red Alliance) with Intrepid Crossing while the rest of the RSF were locked in the distant Delve War II wars, critically diverting Red Alliance's forces from the frontlines in Delve and throwing the entire campaign into jeopardy, earning the wrath of the entire Coalition. Ethereal Dawn and Intrepid Crossing claim that Red Alliance were in fact the aggressors, attacking stations on their territory and that in fact Ethereal Crossing were merely retaliating against an arrogant aggressor in dominant form and that Goonswarm's claims were a smokescreen intended to provide a scapegoat for Red Alliance's lack of performance in Delve and to deliver the Coalition (still recovering from the exertion of conquering Delve) a much less intense war against a numerically and strategically inferior foe.

The war ended approximately 3 months later with the annexation of Intrepid Crossing's space by neighbor Legion of xXDEATHXx along with Red Alliance's relocation into Ethereal Dawn's territory, Etherium Reach. The crushing defeat started when Intrepid Crossing forces attacked Legion of xXDEATHXx 's jump bridge in LXQ2-T. The attack was unsuccessful, following LoD setting Ethereal Crossing red and reinforcing all of their major jump bridge chains and sieging D-IZ (Capital of Intrepid Crossing) station system. Intrepid Crossing began to evacuate.

Red Alliance's relocation was necessitated by the loss of their "home" territory of Insmother, their holdings in Wicked Creek and Scalding Pass from an emergent ATLAS Alliance and an insurgence of ex-GBC alliances exiled from the Galactic Southwest as a result of Delve War II.

Memorable moments from the war include:

- Goonswarm spymaster The Mittani holding (or at least appearing to hold) Ethereal Dawn's capital ships hostage in exchange for a ceasefire between ED and RA. Unmentioned was the continued campaign against Intrepid Crossing.

- Intrepid Crossing executor Oldma losing the alliance's blueprint portfolio by blindly undocking his covert ops ship into a Goonswarm station camp.

- Intrepid Crossing titan destroyed by Red Alliance

- Server crash that caused database roll back, which resulted in cyno jammer being online again, letting Intrepid Crossing capital fleet escape from sieged D-IZ

- Oldma and Dibrle propaganda speeches
