Dickstar

"Dickstars" are a variety of starbase loadout designed to be very difficult or time consuming to destroy. Similar in principle to the Deathstar which is equipped with guns, the Dickstar is equipped with Shield Hardeners and Electronic Warfare.

These types of towers can also be referred to as 'speedbump towers' or 'resistars', the latter referring specifically to heavily shield hardened towers.

Usage

Starbases equipped with hardeners are often deployed when faced with overwhelming numbers, either as a delay, deterrent, or means of irritation for the attacking force. Caldari Control Towers are the most popular towers to be made into Dickstars as they have the most shield hitpoints out of all towers.

They also serve an important role in sov warfare. Attackers may wish to deploy towers in a hostile system and make them slow to attack, allowing for defense of the tower to be rallied. This is an especially useful tactic in situations where the besieged system is not cyno jammed, as it allows more time for the attackers to prepare a capital fleet to jump onto the defending fleet as they attack the tower.
