Deep Core Mining

What is deep core mining and how does it work?

With Deep Core Mining (DCM) you can mine Mercoxit asteroids. The mineral Morphite can be extracted from Mercoxit in high volumes, making it very valuable as Morphite is the basis of all Tech Level II production. To mine Mercoxit you must have the proper skills and equipment. You will need to have the Deep Core Mining skill as well as a ship equipped with Deep Core Mining Laser(s). When mining Mercoxit it will emit a damage cloud on random intervals which will damage all ships and items within its radius for the cloud's duration. As the damage cloud will erupt up to 5km from the asteriod, same as the range on the Deep Core Mining Laser itself, the ship which was mining the Mercoxit will always fall within the range of the cloud, so bringing some defensive modules to a Mercoxit mining expedition is pretty much a must. The commercial containers have proven much better for use in DCM then the jettisoned ones as they are much sturdier and can take more punishment from the damage clouds.
